  1. About signing the dll files by Microsoft, does it bring any kind of improvements other than being verified and signed by Microsoft? , since Microsoft even these days is signing files and drivers that even were introduced by malicious actors. So what does it help?
  2. Yet you have another system installed in that physical machine which is virtual and have ESET and using a license key from the license Some people will bring a physical PC and make 10 virtual machines inside and will have to install an AV , so imagine if it doesn't count , it would be loss for sales to the company.
  3. Yes the virtual machine would be seen as separate license seat , because it just acts like a normal computer and it's using a seat/place from the license that you have. Where ever you will install ESET with your license whether it was virtual or physical , it will count as a Seat/Place in the license size. For example you had a license for 5 devices You install ESET in Physical and then after you install ESET in Virtual Machine Your usage is 2/5
  4. It's always better to step away from an Operating System that is out of support even if that was a phone or a computer or whatever may hold your personal information and digital life. If you are not into Windows 10, then your best bet would be Linux, atleast you would get updates and you can still get ESET for it and protect it, and since most games now doesn't even run on XP and 7 and those systems doesn't receive any kind of updates , you better of with some other operating system.
  5. I don't use XP since ages , but thanks for the read mate.
  6. Not only ESET into this position , if you even search for a security product for 22.04 , you won't find at the moment It seems that when Ubuntu stopped using older version of openssl , they did impact everyone with this. It should be around this month the release would be dropped as several times being said here on the forum And it could have been like you said , a version with old openssl and a version with updated openssl , but end of the day this is a security product and it shouldn't have things like this and should be built securely and good , even if there was a new technology/whatever introduced , it might take time for companies to build on it For example that shows the market share in 2019 between the operating systems , it shows that Linux is not used that much , but it's changing with the time , since Steam is using Linux for their Steam Deck , all big corporations/enterprises use Linux for their servers , from Google and so on ... they are all on Linux and not on Windows Server , I wonder even if Microsoft uses Windows Server But be patient , I am also waiting for the new version so I can upgrade my linux installations.
  7. But after all it's better to stop sticking with XP, it won't receive any kind of updates not even 1bytes so it's just like a house that is getting older by time and getting broken more and more Linux is a good option if you don't want any kind of newer Windows versions Linux mint cinnamon is designed to look like a Windows , you can give it a try without installing.
  8. See if a different DNS server can help you, and it could be related to the ISP somehow , not being able to reach some places , it happens
  9. Argh that's web control , which will block websites based on the Category For examples you can block Gaming etc.. , and better wait for an answer from ESET staff because I have no info about it.
  10. If I am not wrong there is no web protection for Android so therefore you won't find web protection logs for Android If ESET had accessibility control enabled so it can monitor the supported browsers and detected something , it would show it under the Real-Time Protection logs.
  11. Let's wait for an ESET Staff , I am sure they can help you with turning off auto-renewal or atleast remove the payment method to prevent auto-renewal.
  12. Auto-renewal should be possible to be disabled somehow , maybe it's a bug? Remove your payment method , so it won't be able to renew.
  13. If this server has to be faced to the internet , it's better to have a good hardware/virtual machine firewall protecting it which could stop all these attempts in the firewall level, for example Fortinet or Palo-Alto NGFW which can help in that case , for now the one stopping the attacks is ESET , when you have a firewall like this , you will add another layer of protection and those attacks will be held by the firewall. Even if the software is up-to-date and for now as the developers said there are no zero-days but that won't stop the attempts to scan for vulnerabilities and a one might appear one day.
  14. But I doubt that they have dropped support for older systems , they haven't and they will not , I think this is a security feature related to who have Gen10 and up.
  15. Your PC is safe , ESET has blocked a script that exist on the URL listed in the report , there is no threat inside your PC , just web-access protection has blocked a script that it saw suspicious It could be false positive or a real threat , only ESET staff can know that , but for now most recommended is not to ignore the threat , especially since you are going for Banking stuff.
  16. It scans the firmware , but yet cannot make any modifications or some sort of cleaning To have a clean UEFI/BIOS , you need to flash one again from manufacturer website , otherwise it cannot be touched by any AV, not Microsoft's and not ESET's and not Kaspersky's
  17. Use the form or the link here to contact ESET about this , in the forum most likely you won't be able to get help for this, https://support.eset.com/en/kb141-submit-a-virus-website-or-potential-false-positive-sample-to-the-eset-lab
  18. In order to get a product for Linux you need to obtain a license for Endpoint Linux Desktop version of Linux is no longer supported, there should be new version for desktop edition coming soon sometime.
  19. It's not like in the movies that a brand new phone will be instantly hacked, you should also buy phones that receive operating system updates , Look for a router from TP-Link or maybe in USA Linksys is more popular , buy one Linksys and protect your LAN with it and forget about the ISP modem , let it do whatever it wants , your router which for example the Linksys would be able to protect all devices inside the LAN But won't protect you from an infected device inside the LAN , it's better to keep everything uptodate with updates and have an AV scan all your PCs and you should be good You should be a high target for someone to keep targeting you with rootkits and stealthy stuff or zero days or someone is just bullying you if it's really happening , but don't get over-paranoid from internet security because you can never feel safe 100% , like in real world.
  20. You had a similar post from a different user if I am not mistaken , didn't you?, I don't know there was a similar post like this but I can't find it , not from your user but. About BIOS/UEFI , you can flash an image from the laptop/motherboard manufacturer and then you can make sure you don't have a rootkit , because it won't survive a flash After that you can install your OS , and secure your home with your own router/firewall which isn't supplied by the ISP if you don't trust them , if they are really bad , just switch them. VPNs also doesn't protect you if you are infected with malware and it's running in the system , the VPN won't do anything. it would just encrypt the connection from your side to the VPN side and then to internet , but still malware is residing in your system Flash BIOS/UEFI Protect yourself with good firewall(hardware) for LAN, some good company that support the router/firewall model for updates or buy something that can be flashed with OpenWRT which is a secure system Install System(Windows/Linux , your choice) Install AV Update all Reset all your passwords and protect your accounts with 2-step Verifications , and don't use easy passwords or passwords that can be guessed easily and don't use same password for all accounts https://haveibeenpwned.com/ Check if your email is leaked in some database , it could also help you how others can gain your passwords. You should be good to go Don't click suspicious links and stuff like this , and usually Bluetooth is always turned on if you don't turn it off with computers.
  21. Still the same my brother , and I don't think I am being redirected to anywhere , I don't have JS at all with Firefox and uBlock origin and I am protected by a good firewall, and this PC is safe
  22. https://www.eset.com/int/uefi-rootkit-cyber-attack-discovered/ Read here more about it.
  23. If it's coming from LAN then it indicates that this PC is infected and trying to pass If it's coming from WAN then it indicates that this PC is under attack from internet and the firewall that protects it isn't working properly (hardware firewall) If you have to accept SMB from outside , it's better to whitelist for specific IPs to access and rest to be blocked.
  24. It can be done by flashing BIOS image again from your motherboard manufacturer website ESET nor any other Antivirus cannot make modifications in the BIOS.
  25. ESET will be able to detect threats in the BIOS/UEFI , but won't be able to clean them / remove them , a BIOS flash is necessary for that.
