  1. Is new documentation on Mirror Tool available? What to I have type in cron for MirrorTool to execute every 30 min?
  2. @TomFace @dwomack I think problem is solved. Now I'm getting notifications.
  3. I am subscribed for new topics on this forum and I don't receive any. Mail checked, spam filter checked.
  4. if i'm not wrong the reason why ERA 6 use apache or squid for distribute update is for replacing the mirror function in ERA 5. hxxp://help.eset.com/era_install/62/en-US/http_proxy_installation_windows.htm hxxp://support.eset.com/kb3637/?locale=en_US i run test for a few client only update through my proxy not directly to the internet. how am i supposed to minimized internet traffic on my network if my squid log said TCP_MISS when our user update the internet with proxy enable ? it's the same thing with direct update through the internet. the point in cache is the user update through cache proxy first, the proxy server (squid) compare with the origin server (ESET) and if the update is the same state as before the user will update through the cache (hit state) if the origin server newer than cache then the user will update directly and proxy save the download cache (miss state). if hit, it means save more bandwith because not using the bandwith connection. i didn't see hit or miss status in apache log (only get) but in squid log i only see miss log instead off hit log when update same database in different user. i don't wanna use mirror tools because : The mirror tool downloads virus database definitions only it's use one of my license. if i purchase 10 seat ESET, i need to purchase 11 because i must create 1 offline license for mirror tools to served our 10 client An answer to your first statement, it's not complete replacement, as you can see in red text. It's just proxy+cache server. It does not leave you much to control. Have you tried testing clients that have internet access and see log? Offline mirror tool is result of pressure from customers, that need to update clients that have no internet access. As constant request I have posted here on forum that update process (definitions + product) has to be controlled on server with proper UI and settings. They have promised to implement product update in Offline mirror tool in future.
  5. Maybe it's not that simple but did you check server time?
  6. Have you checked entry "ESET Remote Administrator Agent > Advanced Settings > Use proxy server" in your policy?
  7. Are your client's that don't have internet access blocked in some way? I'm only guessing that apache or squid for caching content would require client to have allready established connection to address you are accessing but actual content would be downloaded from cache... You could try your luck with: hxxp://help.eset.com/era_install/62/en-US/index.html?mirror_tool_linux.htm
  8. I suggest you try ERA V5 and wait for V6 to be finished for production since you are stuck as most of us are here.
  9. Did you test v6 before? No May I suggest that you test before going to production? v6 is so much different from v5 that it's not just simple upgrade. I have no test environment and this is relativelly small client, there are only 40 eset clients and I have no politics or some jobs on ERA. I use it about 8 months (version 5). It could be possible to deinstall version 5 without any backup and install the version 6, but I want to try the migration process on this small client. It does not matter if you have 5 or 50 clients. The philosophy of v6 is so much different that you might stumble on large number of problems. If you don't have complex policy in v5 you might be better with clean install. But even then, you will encounter many problems. You should setup virtual environment and try testing, and then decide. You won't regret time spent on test.

  11. I agree with you on different degree of attention different companies give on different source of customer input. As sys admin I follow forums as most people who are in sys admin position do. It's not that I expect ESET team is watching forums all day, but if I see many posts about many problems I can make decision to carry on with subscription or not.
  12. My guess is that version 6.x is private cloud solution that one day ESET will offer in public cloud when it's tested enough by customers in this phase.
  13. I highly doubt these formal complaints will ever be effective as voicing your opinion here on forum. This is public forum so anyone can see problems and solutions.
  14. What about documentation? Do you have timeline for releases and feature list? Thank you for supporting great product like v5!
  15. Welcome to v6 Unfortunately I have no good news for you. You can read this topic and see other people having same problems https://forum.eset.com/topic/4301-not-happy-with-era-6/ Regarding your question on support, you can see here for Business users what to expect: hxxp://support.eset.com/kb3592/ In my company we have agreed to follow this timeline with v5 and test v6 with each release, until, as we like to joke, they release final version of v6. We are also considering switch to other solutions, but as you have also said v5 was so great product that we have hard time to accept that we will have to replace it.
  16. hxxp://www.eset.com/int/download/business/detail/family/257/ Select All-in-one ISO image from Select installer type drop down menu. 17. Of course no one is immune to bugs in software. Even larger names like Microsoft. I was more interested in answer if they do have test team, will they report if this problem is due to strange OS behavior that they needed to adopt to, third party app that generated compatibility problem or is it just bug in code.
  18. Do you test your products internally? I mean, something like internal beta test team?
  19. Can you try and download file with wget? Alternatevly, may I suggest you to download ISO file with all installers and then mounting ISO file. It worked for me.
  20. It would be really wrong to say that ESET products don't do their job. However...I value my time and my company money. We have 100 workstations on single location and for now we still use v5. It's console is much more responsive and informative that v6. Since I'm the only person testing and integrating solutions I really don't have time for unfinished and undocumented products like v6. Pool for documentation? Seriously? Is this really something that should be in question? With no documentation I can only guess how entire system works, as they point out to so many people here on forum, that they don't understand new v6 system. No full offline mirror? Seriously? (ok, not until 6.2, and still it's just separate download that can't be controlled from GUI. Still no documentation? Seriously?) After testing two releases I'm waiting for third one until license expires and I have to make decision should we stay on v5, should we switch to v6 or look for other solution on market. I have suggested to ESET to take approach to their development like Microsoft did with Windows 10. More open and constructive way of communicating to customers on what to expect in future releases. So far all we get on forum posts is "soon to be released, that will fix this and that". I often ask myself am I wrong, have I missed something, but I have many colleagues that share my problems and thoughts in regard to v6. Also subscribed to this forum and every day I get posts that people report problems that I really wonder how many people will switch to v6 at all. Regards.
