  1. Hi Drake 008 To edit your settings for detection of potentially unwanted, unsafe or suspicious programs, follow the steps from the Knowledgebase article below appropriate for your version of ESET: Version 6.x Version 5.x Version 4.x It is likely that during initial setup you did not enable detection of these types of programs, you can learn more about these types of programs here.
  2. sdnian, Since the PCU method effectively installs over the top of the existing software, a capability that 3.x/4.x products do not have, it would be best to uninstall ESET on those machines and then push an installation package with the latest version of ESET to all client computers.
  3. Hi Bowfin, The best product for your situation is probably ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server, it uses a number of the same security technologies present in ESET Client solutions but is optimized for use on Microsoft Windows Server.
  4. If you are outside of the states, contact Customer Care using this link instead. My mistake
  5. Hi there, It sounds like you downloaded our Unlock utility, which is a good start. From what I can tell you are using it correctly, but you can view our Knowledgebase article for illustrated instructions. If you have already generated an unlock code, you should submit a support request form. Include the unlock code that you generated in the "describe your issue" notes on page two of the support request form. We do also have a video that goes over the same steps. I will see that the hyperlink to the support form that is included in that article gets repaired as soon as possible, thanks for letting us know about that.
  6. Hi protagon, To remove the Olmasco/Olmarik infection use our stand-alone tool. You can view our knowledgebase article for instructions and to download the tool. In the article you'll find a link to our video walkthrough, which you might also find helpful.
  7. Hi Tahir, Have you completed the steps from our Knowledgebase article on resolving network connectivity issues? It's probably a good place to start.
  8. I see, one thing you could try is to download the Eicar maleware test file using one of the machines on your network and see whether notifications are sent. This is a file that is not harmful to your computers, but will be detected as malware by security software, it is distributed for the purpose of testing. The link i have sent you will take you to the download page for the file. In the upper right you'll see a link to the "Intended use" page, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the terms of use before you download the file.
  9. Hi, Have you taken a look at the procedure in our article How do I set up ESET Remote Administrator Server to send email reports and notifications? (5.x) Part II covers procedure for testing whether emails are functional.
  10. Hi Nurgle, Lately there have been some instances where Clear Update Cache is greyed out like you describe. In some cases, you can restore the clear update cache functionality by restarting your computer and then attempting an update. The update will most likely fail again, after this happens open Advanced setup and navigate to update > update. The Clear Update Cache button should be available and once the cache is cleared, updates should be successful. Let me know if this works for you, CB
  11. Hi Justin, It's odd that your Firewall log would just quit like that. Can you tell me which version of ESET Smart Security 4 Business Edition you have installed? Assuming that you have a valid license, upgrading to ESET Endpoint Security would likely resolve your issue and you would get the added benefit of several new features. For the smoothest upgrade possible, I suggest that you export your configuration and then uninstall ESET Smart Security 4 Business Edition. Follow the instructions from our installation article to download and install ESET Endpoint Security and then import your old configuration settings.
  12. Hi iTech, Cleaning is different from deleting the file because it attempts to remove malicious data and provide you with a clean, usable copy of the file. Cleaned files are not quarantined, however if an archive like the one from your example contains a malicious file that cannot be cleaned, it will be quarantined rather than deleted using default settings. All files that cannot be cleaned are quarantined by default, however by using the settings adjustments we discussed earlier in this thread you can change the way that ESET behaves towards files that cannot be cleaned. You can choose to take no action against these files, quarantine them, or delete them immediately.
  13. Hi iTech, Take a look at this article, it covers how to configure the standard cleaning level for real-time file system protection. As Marcos stated, we recommend that you use the standard setting, but this is the quickest way to make the type of universal changes you seem to be looking for.
  14. This warning exists primarily because the uninstaller will make edits to your registry. While these changes are only made to the part of the registry where ESET is installed, it is always best to have a backup available any time that you are going to edit registry entries because of the potential for damage if the wrong entry is edited. We do recommend that you back up your system prior to running the uninstaller tool. In my experience using the tool the only issues I have seen are the networking issues that are called out in the article which may or may not affect you depending on your operating system.
  15. Hi Ron, I am, assuming that you followed the instructions from our Knowledgebase article when performing your manual uninstall. Please do so if you did not during your first attempt. It may be necessary in some cases to repeat this procedure several times to fully remove the software.
  16. Hi dmveron, Have you completed the steps from our Update Mirror Troubleshooting Checklist? The user name that for those client computers is most likely the computer name on your network.
  17. Hi Near_Far, For instructions to access the setting that Marcos mentions in his post, visit the following Knowledgebase article: HIPS - Advanced setup Note that the Advanced setup tree contains a "HIPS" branch that can be expanded. You're looking for the "Advanced setup" located within the HIPS branch of the Advanced setup tree. This is documented in the bottom half of the article linked to above.
  18. Ok Grant, I'm sorry that this has been such a process for you to go through, thanks for your patience. The upgrade process is becoming much more streamlined for our current generation of business products. It sounds like you're referring to one specific client machine. If this is indeed the case, it might be best to manually uninstall NOD32 Business edition on this individual client workstation and then reinstall Endpoint Antivirus.
  19. Hi Grant, So you attempted to remote install ESET Endpoint Antivirus over NOD32 Antivirus version 4.2.76 and the client is still running NOD32? If this is the case, my advice would be to uninstall NOD32 completely and perform a fresh installation of ESET Endpoint Antivirus. If you are working with multiple clients as before, first push uninstall NOD32 Antivirus, complete the steps in our Push installation requirements checklist and then attempt a fresh push installation. If you encounter errors in the process, refer to our article ESET Remote Administrator Push Installation and Push Uninstallation Errors.
  20. Hi David, I suggest that you try the steps in our Knowledgebase article: Why can't I see client workstations in the client tab of the ESET Remote Administrator Console? Please reply and let us know if after completing the steps in this article you still don't see client workstations reporting in.
  21. No problem, let me know if you have any further questions.
  22. Hi Grant, If your client workstations are using ESET NOD32 Business edition 4.x or newer, you should be able to upgrade them without removing the software. First, follow the instructions from the article I linked to in my last post to upgrade Remote Administrator to the latest version. Once you have the latest version of ERA, there are two methods to push the upgrade to your client workstations: the PCU method, which might work well for you since you have a large number of clients (in this method your clients receive the latest version automatically when they check in to receive virus signature updates). or using an upgrade task, which is similar to performing a push installation. If you have an earlier version of ESET installed on client workstations, you can remove it from all client workstations by performing a push uninstall. Our article How do I push uninstall to client workstations using ESET Remote Administrator? (5.x) contains instructions to do this. Once you uninstall the older version of ESET, you can then install ESET Endpoint Antivirus using the PCU or by performing a push installation. To answer your second question, yes ERA version 5.0.122 can be used to manage Endpoint version 5.0.22 clients, however we recommend that you always use the latest version of ESET Remote Administrator available.
  23. Hi Grant7072, We do have a Knowledgebase article with instructions to help you upgrade to the latest version of ERA. To view it, click the link below. How do I upgrade ESET Remote Administrator to the latest version? With regards to getting clients to appear, the following article might be helpful: Why can't I see client workstations in the client tab of ESET Remote Administrator?
  24. Hi barnies, For help getting your client computers to access the mirror server, which will allow them to activate as Marcos pointed out, visit the Knowledgebase article below: How do I configure ESET client workstations to access the Mirror server in ESET Remote Administrator? (5.x)
