  1. Hi Al, In part 1, step 4 of our Knowledgebase article on this topic we go over entering the recipient address. Are you setting this field in ERA?
  2. Hi dharmil007, The link below will allow you to download the installer file for ESS 6.0.316. It's a later version than you specified, but with older versions we try to make the most recent build available. You can always use our Knowledgebase article "How do I download and install older versions of ESET products" if you're looking for a version that's no longer current. Download page for ESS 6.0.316--hxxp://www.eset.com/us/download/home/detail/family/5/fileflag/6.0.316.6/
  3. That makes sense Wolliballa. What I meant to communicate, just in case trail users are reading, is that we would not allow an issue with an ESET product go unaddressed in a trial version of the product when in fact the resolution was available and was distributed to those users who had the paid version.
  4. Hi Clyde, Security updates to Windows are released by Microsoft as part of regular Windows updates. There is no way for ESET to continue to offer this service because only Microsoft themselves can publish and distribute updates to their products. ESET customers who use Windows XP will still receive full support from ESET as long as they have a valid license. This includes regular virus signature database and product updates for your ESET product. It is important to note that while your ESET product will still be fully supported, new exploits or vulnerabilities discovered in Windows XP might expose your system to threats because of the fact that Microsoft will no longer release updates to patch these types of issues.
  5. I'm glad that helped. It's typically clearing the update cache that does it, there's no reason to think that going from the trial to the paid version would repair the error.
  6. Hi Wolliballa, Please take a look at the steps from this article. They should resolve your situation.
  7. It seems i have misled you Mike, my apologies. I have confirmed with one of our technicians that we cannot at this time view a log specifically from the startup scan. If threats were found, you would of course be notified. We are looking into making logs from the startup scan available in a future version of the ESET Endpoint Antivirus and ESET Endpoint Security.
  8. Yes mike, for instructions to view log files either using ERA or on individual clients, check out this Knowledgebase article. Your startup scan will be displayed as a regular computer scan in the logs (which in ERA is just referred to as "scan").
  9. Hi Mike, Any clients that you have ESET Endpoint Security or ESET Endpoint Antivirus on should automatically perform a startup scan using default settings. There is no need to use ERA to enforce this rule. --CB
  10. Hi everyone, @Megachip, the answer to your question is yes, and it's already available. The latest version of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) allows you to perform remote installation to Mac OS X clients. Here is a link to instructions on how to update ERA. Once you have the most recent version, the push install can be performed using the same procedure you would use to push to a Windows machine. --CB
  11. Hi everyone, Thank you, Janus for your help in directing fwjona to the appropriate article regarding that question. New versions of ECS Pro and ECS have in fact been released just today, so the answer to fwjona's question is now a yes. You can read more about the new releases in the following posts: ESET Cyber Security Pro version 5.0.115 has been released ESET Cyber Security version 5.0.115 has been released
  12. Hi Chitreau, For a breakdown of the steps involved in creating a new rule as Marcos suggests, take a look at this article.
  13. Hi JRV, You need to upload the license file to ERA, it should recognize that you have File Security installed.
  14. JRV, There is a chance that you still need to configure your clients for remote administration the way that PatrickL pointed out. Check out this article, the steps in part I describe how to properly configure clients such as your EFSW machines.
  15. Hi mdeblieck, I think you might find the steps in this article helpful. The way the password change works is that you define a new pw and then enable clients to log in unauthenticated so that they can receive the new password. Once the clients have the updated password, unauthenticated login is disabled. Let me know if this helps.
  16. Hi Vivek, I'm not sure if the error your getting is "Identical IP address detected in network" if it is, you should check out this article.
  17. I think Janus is correct to link to those two articles. Specifically, step 6 in the Create a SysRescue CD, DVD or USB disk section. To create a SysRescue backup you need to tell the program where VSD files are located.
  18. Hi, Marcos is right, the firewall should be completely functional in automatic mode right out of the box, you should not have to make any changes. I will however, suggest that you visit our Knowledgebase and search for any questions you do have. One of the first firewall related operations you might see when working with ESET Smart Security is the New Network Connection Detected dialog. You can read about the different settings available and decide which are best for you in this article. We have quite a few additional articles on using the Personal firewall. They are categorized by issue, so I encourage you to search the knowledgebase (you might want to use the drop-down menu at the top to filter for firewall as your problem type).
  19. MJS051, This type of real-world example is impossible to duplicate in an office setting, and we will bear in mind your observations and suggestions in the development of future support and training content. I have passed your posting here along to my colleagues who work with the Cybersecurity Training program. Thanks for taking the time to share these insights with us, I'm glad that your girlfriend and your parents had a good experience!
  20. IIMadManII, What you're seeing might be the phantom account created by ESET Anti-Theft. Near the end of this article you'll find a definition of the feature. It basically exists so that in the event that your device is lost or stolen, the thief is auto-logged in to the phantom account that does not have access to your sensitive materials. It typically takes the name "John" but maybe there was a glitch in your case that caused it to choose such an odd name.
  21. Hi Tjg79, We have an article that addresses the topic of Windows Homegroup networking on Win7 specifically. You can take a look here. I'm glad you were able to resolve your issue, just wanted to add that if it helps with your peace of mind.
  22. TomFace, You should not have any trouble installing the V7 beta over your current installation of V6. You can learn more about the new features coming in V7 in this article.
  23. Ok, Can you please try these steps and let me know if it resolves your issue. 1. open the System Preferences panel 2. go to Accounts [OSX 10.6.8] or "User & Groups" [OSX 10.8.3] 3. unlock the account modification by clicking the lock button and entering admin's credentials 4. right-click on user's account, select advanced options and enter 'staff' without quotes to the group box and save it. (this is probably your profile name currently) 5. restart the Mac
  24. Hi davidson_23 I know that the title specifies a different line, but have you tried the steps from this article?
