  1. I see exactly what you mean, and i'll make sure that we clean that article up. There are two ways you can accomplish what the missing 'method' II was intended to do, it's just a matter of whether you want to perform the task from ERA or from the ESET Endpoint Security on the client. From ERA: In the Clients tab, right-click the client that you want to change the primary server for and select New Task > Configuration Task from the context menu. Click Create and then follow steps 5-9 from the article that I referenced earlier to change the primary server IP that client is assigned. From ESET Endpoint Security. Open ESET Endpoint Security (here is how) and press F5 to access Advanced setup. Expand Tools > Remote administration. Type the IP address of the new server into the Server address field in the Primary server tab.
  2. Hi Twinstead, If i'm reading your question correctly, i believe all that you need to do is arrange to have the client computer that you mention look for the IP address of the different server. Please take a look at our Knowledgebase article and let me know if it helps you resolve this issue.
  3. Hi Rdub, Can you please try the solution from our Knowledgebase article and let us know if it resolves your issue. I realize that the article specifies Windows 8, but I think that in your situation these steps might still resolve the issue.
  4. Hi all I can follow up and have our FAQ updated today. Thank you RichAM for pointing this out.
  5. Hi gfkerop, Have you tried the steps from our Knowledgebase article?
  6. Hi, If you want to learn more about the "New network connection detected" window, you can check out our Knowledgebase article on the topic. Bear in mind that the article is written using the latest version of ESET Smart Security.
  7. Hi Rene, Before you delete the rule entirely, you might try switching the firewall to learning mode, plugging your camera in and creating an exception when you make the attempt to transfer photos. For instructions to get into learning mode see our knowledgebase article. To save the trouble of dealing with other programs that are communicating across the firewall you should probably switch back into automatic mode with exceptions once you've created the exception for the camera.
  8. Hi Ego_Dekker, There is a new version of the SysRescue utility available for download. It is considerably easier to use than the version that you can access from the GUI. See our Knowledgebase article for instructions on how to run the new version, called SysRescue Live. There is a download link for the software included in the article.
  9. I'm not sure why that might occur. I would suggest trying a different USB drive if possible, or reformatting the USB and starting over. There should be absolutely nothing on that USB drive when you create the new record.
  10. I'm not sure if I understand. If you have already created the bootable medium, you don't need to create another disc. You should restart with the USB inserted and see if your computer will boot from the USB. Please let me know if there is a miscommunication here because i'm not sure that I have an accurate idea of your situation.
  11. Sure, here it is. SysRescue Live doesn't work exactly the same as the older versions of SysRescue, so I hope that you will read the Knowledgebase article from my previous post because this new version is much easier to use once you know how to go about it. There is a link to the same file in the KB article. --CB
  12. Hi Laur, There is actually a more recent version of SysRescue that has only been available for a short while. The disk that you created is still a great tool to restore your system if something should go wrong, but in the future we recommend that you use the new SysRescue Live product, which does receive virus signature database updates just like other ESET products. You can learn more about SysRescue Live by reading our Knowledgebase Article. --CB
  13. Hi Planet, Unfortunately the instructions in the article are designed to make sure that on-demand scanning doesn't hang, not to optimize write times to your external drive when you are performing a back up. I will have to get back to you as to what the best way to speed up the backup process while RTFS protection is on.
  14. Hi Grumps, You can take a look at our Knowledgebase article for instructions to create a firewall exclusion.
  15. Hi DrTeeth, Nedim's response is accurate, it is best to wait until you have used the full duration of your existing license period before you activate your new license.
  16. Hi miyagi, ESET Mobile Security for Android typically checks for updates multiple times per day depending on internet connectivity. Typically 3-5 times assuming you have a good connection. You can trigger a manual check for updates any time. To do so, follow the instructions from our Knowledgebase article.
  17. XenoBen, The ESET Knowledgebase has just published the following article to address this issue: What is Gameover Zeus and does ESET protect me from it? It's a little more thorough than my post from earlier. Hope it will prove helpful for you.
  18. Hi XenoBen, Yes, ESET products detect and block the malware distributed by the GameOver Zeus botnet. We highly recommend that you make sure you are using the latest virus signature database to ensure that your ESET product can recognize and block the most recent variants of these threats. If you aren't sure your product is updating, here are instructions on how to check. If you are concerned that your system might be infected, please follow these steps: 1. Follow the instructions in this article to run the ESET Necurs removal tool. 2. Follow the instructions in this article to run the ESET ZbotZRcleaner tool. Make sure that you complete the steps in part 2 to run a scan of your entire system once you finish running the tool. I expect that ESET will add a new article to the Knowledgebase later today with similar instructions for users concerned about GameOver Zeus. I'll write back with a link to that article once it's ready.
  19. Hi Planet, ESET Cyber Security and Cyber Security pro do not exclude Time Machine backups by default. This can result is long scan times, which can be avoided by creating an exclusion just as you suggested. Take a look at our Knowledgebase article for instructions to create an exclusion for your backup files. If you are using version 4.x of ESET Cybersecurity (you can tell the difference because the name will be one word, just as I wrote it here), the steps are slightly different. Here is a link to the 4.x article. Hope this answers your question.
  20. Hi Vanroy, Have you tried clearing the update cache in EMSX? You can clear the cache from Setup. Press F5 to open Setup and look for update under Computer protection. Select Update and click Clear next to Clear Update Cache and then attempt to run your Virus signature database update again.
  21. Hi dom1da, When you do install ESET, make sure that you uninstall Malwarebytes first. Using two antivirus programs at the same time can cause problems. You can visit this Knowledgebase article where we list removal tools for common antivirus programs, the tool to remove Malwarebytes can be found in the "M" section.
  22. Hello everyone, The EsetSirefeCleaner tool has been updated to remove "leftovers" from older Sirefef variants when run using the /f switch. For step-by-step instructions to clean your system using the tool, please our Knowledgebase article.
  23. Yes, those are the default settings. Using those settings I would expect that hqsec would be seeing more notification messages.
  24. Hi hqsec, In your first post, you mentioned your Alerts & Notifications settings in advanced setup. I would be curious to know what settings you are using under Message Boxes > Advanced Setup. It's in the same dialog that is shown in your image, but the setting i'm interested is the Minimum verbosity of events to display setting. There is also a setting in there that determines which users see notifications, that might be worth checking on as well.
  25. pfr2014, We're aware of this issue and are working on a solution in future versions of EMS. I'm glad that you were able to get the phone working again, thanks for keeping us posted, sorry for the inconvenience.
