  1. You are most welcome Duncan. I am glad you enjoyed it ! I hope more have a chance to see and comment !
  2. Not sure if version 6 has the option, but Full screen apps make Eset turn on gamer mode automatically which is a degraded state.
  3. Compare options in the program as well as vsd version ?
  4. In my case, I changed nothing. I cannot understand this: I have two computers with similar hardware and the same software, OS and programs. One computer works fine and has too few logs about blocked svchost and the other computer with brand new installation logs blocked svchost every 2-3 seconds. I understand that a Windows service is responsible for this but which is it? Why does a service from the second pc need eagerly to connect to the internet and the same service to the other pc doesn't need? It wouldnt work that way, something is missing, or we have missed something. Would you allow remote support ? Very strange . . .
  5. Maybe you had ownership changed and you couldnt apply permissions to the directories ? I wouldnt do a fresh install unless you have no data at all and just apps. When you say none works, can you elaborate ? Thanks
  6. Although its a market scheme, i overlooked that and it didn't really bother me, due to the fact it really moved me. I had an urge to share this with the great people here as well as ESET Staff. They have done so much for me and so far participation and promotion is all i have to give back. If you have already seen it, great; if not i hope you enjoy. Thank you ESET, for your software, and great rapport with your customers. hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Hzgzim5m7oU
  7. What do you dislike about the firewall? In my opinion, the interface is very clear and straightforward, much easier to control compared to some other firewalls. Of course, there's still room for improvement like in any software product but personally I don't miss a thing when it comes to features. I dont think they mean against gui or interface, or strength / protection, including options; but more or less compaibility with os versions , patches, other software, and different network setups etc. Although i am assuming based on reporting.
  8. This ^^ While i am very proud of the history of Microsoft and the very intelligent engineers and developers behind their team, Microsoft Security products are lame. *Replaced intuitive professional etiquette with "lame"
  9. Hi David, Very nice to meet you and a warm welcome to you from ESET forums !
  10. Trooper See link provided hxxp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms04-013 After update or KB checked to be installed: See below : Threat Assessment Wild Wild Level: Low Number of Infections: 0 - 49 Number of Sites: 0 - 2 Geographical Distribution: Low Threat Containment: Easy Removal: Easy Removal is stated as easy from Symantec Then see this :hxxp://www.pchell.com/virus/bloodhound.shtml Removal should be as easy as clearing all your temp folders. Also, please still report back of what variant or flavor Eset states this vulnerability is Good luck.
  11. Real time protection on 2 programs always has the chance of conflict. Running 2 Anti-Virus programs is never recommended and the 2 will almost always conflict or crash or cause system errors. Bear in mind Nod32 and SS are Anti-virus products (Eset staff, correct me if im wrong on this single statement) However, Mbam considers itself an Anti-malware solution vs Anti-virus. The databases of infected files and threats are of a high probability to be of different in natures, signatures, and file activity. See link from Mbam dated August 13th of 2013 : hxxp://blog.malwarebytes.org/news/2013/08/malwarebytes-av-compatibility-report/ It would still be wise to create the dump file and or export system event viewer(which may also give a clue to what service locked up), PM it to Marcos disable Real-time on Malwarebytes, and see if any change, because we havent a clue to what programs are lurking about that may create new compatibility issues. Please report the issue when resolution is found.
  12. Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled Try that and see if you still have the error. Will need to use it for a while till you see or dont see the error. Report back findings. This will eliminate addons as issue or not
  13. Does clear update cache help ? Also does this only happen on startup - automatic update ? Or as Marcos asked, every single hour ? If you can catch an exact time of when the update starts. You can check event viewer and see possible if there is something going on at the same time.
  14. Hi Bambi welcome to the forums. Hi hayc59, welcome.
  15. I ran all these commands with no error. After that, I ran Windows update and error 80072EFD still exists. I do know a few other things you can do to try and fix windows update, i will PM a batch file. Aside from that, all those steps including the batch i send, 99% of the time fixes windows update problems that i run into on a daily basis after stripping firewalls and security suites from clients machines. So i would say im stumped, and although i still push Eset and everything the company and software does always, . . . my finger points at some kind of mis config with the SS firewall and would suggest trying a uninstall with cleaner , and maybe a different version to start, then maybe going for an upgrade if fixed. Or similar, possibly send Marcos a full Sysinspector log for investigation by him and his team.
  16. All true, +1 to you my friend for this fun conversation . Mr Eset does just fine for me. I personally dont use SAS that much as i make it out to sound. I simply use it to clean customer machines who dont have eset along with a few other apps in tandem. At any rate, i concur the Sas thread to be closed
  17. Try re-registering the following dll's If this does not fix your issue, i would point at the firewall explicitly. Do this from a command prompt net stop cryptsvc net stop ose net stop wuauserv net stop bits net stop msiserver msiexec /regserver regsvr32 msi.dll /s regsvr32 msihnd.dll /s regsvr32 wuaueng.dll /s regsvr32 qmgr.dll /s regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll /s regsvr32 wuaueng.dll /s regsvr32 msxml.dll /s regsvr32 msxml2.dll /s regsvr32 msxml3.dll /s regsvr32 msxml4.dll /s regsvr32 qmgr.dll /s regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll /s regsvr32 muweb.dll /s regsvr32 winhttp.dll /s regsvr32 wuapi.dll /s regsvr32 wuaueng.dll /s regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll /s regsvr32 wucltui.dll /s regsvr32 wups.dll /s regsvr32 wups2.dll /s regsvr32 wuweb.dll /s regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s regsvr32 cryptui.dll /s regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll /s regsvr32 initpki.dll /s regsvr32 mssip32.dll /s regsvr32 sccbase.dll /s regsvr32 softpub.dll /s regsvr32 slbcsp.dll /s regsvr32 rsaenh.dll /s regsvr32 winhttp.dll /s regsvr32 wintrust.dll /s regsvr32 qmgr.dll /s regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll /s regsvr32 es.dll /s net start cryptsvc net start ose net start wuauserv net start bits net start msiserver Post back if you have any errors as i through this together in less then 5 minutes without attention to detail.
  18. I have been using SAS for the better part of 5 years. People really neglect it sometimes for the threats it finds and repairs it can initiate due to broken systems :
  19. CCleaner deletes cache, and deletes cookies, sometimes ....... but fails to grab all of the cookies due to the directories ccleaner cleans you would need to import the sites you want it to delete and directories ec. Most common users do not do this or know how, or even bother.
  20. I run mbam in real time and eset , real time. They work just fine. Superantispyware is the only of the three that will get rid of tracking cookies. mbam doesnt do this, neither does eset. So i dont use real time on SAS and use it to scan regularly for cookies, it does a better job then any other progam i have found, besides using host file or hitmanpro ! Yeah many people say that, but using SAS only for the tracking cookie detection is not something I would do. I use CCleaner for that too, SAS detects the tracking cookies and get's rid of them, CCleaner detects the tracking cookies and get's rid of them. They do them same thing regarding the tracking cookies so I would not use SAS only to detect them. And ESET and MBAM does not detect them since they are not considered a threat, they are only cookies wich can be taken care of easily if the user wants to in the browser settings, or using CCleaner for example. I didn't mean that one shouldn't run ESET and MBAM Pro together, one can do that if one wants to, even if some get's problems with the MBAM real-time module, most don't and so it's OK to give it a try. Only I think it's not necessary, and therefore I use MBAM on-demand instead. Each to their own Im sorry but this is incorrect Swex. I will post a picture as proof, standby
