Administrators Marcos 4,935 Posted April 18, 2016 Administrators Share Posted April 18, 2016 It's not possible to change modules; you can only switch between release and pre-release updates to get the very latest version of modules. Please elaborate more on the memory leak issue. How much RAM do you see allocated by ekrn.exe when a memory leak occurs?

See the following 2 previous threads about it. https://forum.eset.com/topic/6317-eset-smart-security-9-memory-leak/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/7487-seems-like-a-memory-leak/ If you can, then follow these instructions to create a full memory dump. hxxp://support.eset.com/kb380/

SweX 871
What can i do to help to find a solution ? This is what you can do: hxxp://support.eset.com/kb380/ The memory dump can help ESET find and fix the problem. But let ekrn.exe's ram usage grow to let's say at least 500mb+ before you create the dump, the higher the usage is the better. When done, you compress it and uploaded the dump to a safe location and share the download link with someone from ESET, by PM here on the forum with a moderator like Marcos for example. esetnod32@rocketship1.biz 0
Recently I've noticed the same problem on my win xp system. After a reboot, it's using 116 meg working set, 208 virtual size (I use sysinternals procexp to monitor). AFter a few days w/o rebooting, it's about 300 meg working set with virtual memory at about 500 meg. Every so often I go a week w/o rebooting and the last time I was running low on memory, it said it was using 500 meg working set and nearly 1 gig virtual memory. I find just rebooting every few days is the answer. This is my main system, where I have 3 1080p monitors and lots of hard drives. I've built a new system running windows 10 that has 16 gigs of ram and it's so fast I can use vnc on one monitor (from xp) where I now run firefox (another memory hog) on this win 10 system. Eventually I'll get all my programs ported to win10 and just use the built in virus program. I saw the post on how to try to fix this problem with beta updates etc. but I'm not going to mess with that. I'll just reboot every few days. But it was good to see I'm not alone on this. KALMUSI 0
I have version 7.0.325.1 running on XP. As I am browsing and downloading files, or streaming TWC-TV, the memory used by ekrn, exe grows until it exceeds 1 to 1.5 GB. I do not reboot daily, so eventually the Virus Definition update fails with a "fatal error." A reboot restarts ekrn.exe at about 130 MB. Is this going to be fixed and an update issued to V7? I was told by ESET support that when running XP, the highest version recommended is V7. I have a Windows 7 box running V8 (8.0.312.0) that shows the same memory usage growth behavior. Will there be a fix for this as well? I have been a loyal customer, renewing my license for over ten years and recommending ESET professionally and personally. I will have to consider dropping ESET if this issue is not resolved. Other posts have observed that this problem has come and gone as the software has been updated. I have never had this issue before about six months ago. I have always browsed and downloaded and very rarely reboot. Please fix this problem.
