Mr.Gains 4
Good afternoon, I notice that Rocky Linux 9 in the support OS system for ESET Protect console, but doesn't have any check marks due to not tested. Any one using this OS or how dependable is this OS to run ESET Protect? Currently using Centos 7 and EOL is June this year, so trying to explore options as this OS was mentioned by my colleague is what they preferred. If not this OS then is it better to go Debian 10 or RHEL 8 due to actually being supported?
Mr.Gains 4
Bump. I'm trying to figure which Linux OS to migrate to, as I'm finding all the supported Linux OS in the list are EOL this year except for Ubuntu 20.04 which is EOL next year. Will this list be updated anytime soon? https://help.eset.com/protect_install/11.0/en-US/installation.html?linux.html
Administrators Solution Marcos 5,394 Posted March 7 Administrators Solution Share Posted March 7 The virtual appliance based on Rocky Linux 9 is planned to be available soon. As for installation on Linux, this is yet to be evaluated and decided. Would it be ok for you to use the virtual appliance if the database could not be migrated? Mr.Gains 4
We're currently using Centos 7 on VA, so I don't see an issue. I did receive this, so I figure I'll share just in case others are looking. https://support-eol.eset.com/en/business_managed_remote_va_migrate_to_new.html

Administrators Marcos 5,394 Posted May 3 Administrators Share Posted May 3 Yes, the Rocky Linux VA has been temporarily pulled down due to a bug in the MySQL ODBC driver tracked under #113554 on the MySQL bug page.
Guillaume P 0
Ho, OK. Thank you for your response. I will wait until things go back to normal. Regards, Guillaume P. Edited May 3 by Guillaume P

The latest VA was actually pulled back last week after confirming issues related to a bug in the MySQL ODBC driver which is tracked in the official MySQL bug tracking system and a KB with mitigation instructions was prepared and published. The bug manifested under specific circumstances which is why it was not discovered earlier. We will consider replacing the affected MySQL ODBC driver with a MariaDB one. Donatas 0
Hi everyone, I want to share the experience I have with Rocky linux... I'm working in a government institution. We're have about 1400 eset clients. Everything was fine until we migrate to Rocky. Here is my problems list. I hope to find a solution here 1. Dropping connection all the time, impossible to login to a console - fixed using MariaDB instead Mysql odbc..... 2. Practicaly impossible to use a webmin. Errors, disconnetions.... 3. "Last connected" status is not correct. Computer is online, but console dont show a "green circle". There is a lot of computers showing wrong status. Sometimes eset server shows it self "not online" 4. Preparing e new pc to user, installing eset agent and antivirus. New client did not show in a console until I restart the eset server. One important thing. It looks like eset server is working fine/almost fine when it is a weekend or after work hours. Server has more then enought resouces. Sorry for my english client_trace.log server_trace.log
Donatas 0
Another problem with Rocky...After last rocky update to v9.4, linux server secyrity is not working. Uninstall/reinstall didn't help. Edited May 12 by Donatas mistake
Pan Bambaryla 3
Looks like this Rocky distribution is not fully tested before releasing the newest ERA VM. ESET, please give us an advise on this case. Thanks.

ESET, please give us an advise on this case. Thanks. The Rocky Linux VA was pulled back more than a week ago and the previous CentOS based version is available. The reason was a bug affecting the MySQL ODBC driver which is officially tracked on their bug tracking web page. It can be solved by following the instructions at https://support.eset.com/en/kb8654. Another problem is with server repair/reinstall due to a bad SELinux context in /etc/systemd/system/eraserver.service which is not properly set there. Both will be addressed in a new VA version which is being prepared. Unfortunately you didn't mention what issue you have encountered.
Pan Bambaryla 3
I don't have any problem because @Donatas warned us before system upgrade. I think you, ESET, should address this issues ASAP as we are not the only ones with Rocky onboard.
Administrators Marcos 5,394 Posted May 13 Administrators Share Posted May 13 The bug pointed by Donatas is in the MySQL ODBC driver, ie. outside of ESET. The new VA will use a MariaDB ODBC driver to avoid the issues. The same can be accomplished by following the instructions in the above mentioned KB. The issues won't likely manifest in smaller networks even with the MySQL ODBC driver.

Gregecslo 8
Lol. I just migrated to same version because of this. Come on guys, some naming of downloaded files would be great. At least that.
Pan Bambaryla 3
@Marcos - maybe some info regarding SLinux repair (we got ODBC) instead upgrading VM to .1?

I dont want to migrate the VA again to a new Version, so it would be great to have a kb where a solution for the selinux problem is described. ODBC is already done.
