Virus signature update ended with an error 0X1106

Checked kb/googled for a fix.  I can ping the update server, I have no firewall on this machine, it's set to not use a proxy, and the only other detection software is Malwarebytes, which I uninstalled with no change.

So far I've tried:

• Clearing cache, restart, not solved
• Repairing via the uninstaller, reboot, not solved
• Uninstalling and reinstalling with appropriate restarts, not solved

This is on a Win7 X64 box.

 

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

We've seldom seen this error after installing Windows updates but the exact cause is not known yet. Please run the following command and post the output here:

Went back to an image from the 8th, updated definitions then updated windows.  Appears to be functioning now.

You may have to go back to a system restore point from the day of the Windows updates (the 9th) or a system image if you have one.
