Question about some fuctionality

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Default landing zone in my ESMC is lost & found. This group dont have enough policy settings. Most of computers that are connected to my ESMC are from plenty of ldap servers. Sometimes there are problems with local dns server configurations, and after sync task computer stays in lost & found.

Is there any chance to setup for example display message :

- computer lands in lost & found dynamic group.

- client task is scheduled but not launched

- On next hour task started to work (IF computer is still in that dynamic group), and work for example every 20 minuts untill its within that dynamic group ?

Thanks for help

Greetz

1, Membership in dynamic groups is evaluated by agent on clients. ESMC has no information about dynamic groups that a client is a member of unless the agent reports it to the ESMC server.

2, If a client task doesn't run, you should see it as being in progress (e.g. if you set it to be executed in the future). If a task fails to run, you get a notification:

3, You can set the trigger to "join dynamic group" if you want to trigger a task on machines that join a particular dynamic group. As long as machines are members of the DG, the task won't be run again:

If you assign a task to a particular DG, it could be that a particular machine will not connect to the ESMC server any time soon. The next time such machine connects to ESMC, agent receives information about dynamic groups, tasks, etc., evaluates the membership in DG, checks which tasks assigned to the DG are supposed to run and runs them. The next time agent connects to ESMC, it reports membership in DG as well as the status of tasks and other data from the client.

For monitoring newly connected devices, please check pre-defined notification "New computer connected for the first time". Creating duplicate where only Lost&Found group will be monitored should cover your scenario (pre-defined one monitors group All).
