Banking sites not opening in BPP after updating to 12.1.34.0

Recommended Posts

After the recent upgrade of ESET IS to 12.1.34.0, all my banking and credit card sites have stopped working with certificate error.

Previously, I always used bpp browser to run such sites.

1, Americanexpress.com uses http/2 which means it's not supported by Banking and payment protection yet.
2, The website uses an EV certificate which means the communication is not filtered by ESET, ie. ESET cannot be the reason for the certificate issuer to be not known. I would click More information and check certificate details to determine the issuer.

The above Thread ( pull the https together/ big icon results with real URL ) addresses http/2 and suggests in Advanced Settings/ Web-Email/ SSL-TLS / Un-Chk " Exclude Communications with Trusted Domains". Close Browser and, I guess, Advanced settings , Re-open Browser and try.

For me it worked and I could Re-Chk " Exclude Comm, etc" in SSL/TLS what I un-Chk'd prior.

Takes a minute. Try it.

American Express is only one of the them. Other banking sites are also not opening and for few "Add to Exception" option itself is not available.

There is no way to use BPP for financial transactions now. With previous version of BPP, I was able to open all banking sites.

You can launch a secure browser by clicking the appropriate icon on your desktop and open the desired bank website in it.

However, there is definitely a problem with SSL interception and certificates. As already advised, click More details and provide screen shots of the certificate details.

Please find below the screenshot of one bank site:

I am surprised that till version 12.1.32.0 everything was fine but now BPP is of no use to me. Nothing working.

Do you have the "DigiCert High Assurance EV Root CA" certificate in the Trusted root CA certificate store?

It appears that ESET didn't perform SSL interception in that case. Can you confirm that temporarily disabling protocol filtering in the advanced setup doesn't make any difference?

As far as https://netbanking.hdfcbank.com goes, the site appears in IE11 with "green bar." Further analysis of the certificate chain shows Eset is not intercepting any SSL communication as evidenced by lack of its root certificate use.

Very much appears to me the issue is either with your installed Firefox browser or indeed communication is being intercepted in route as the warning indicates. Since this appears to be happening on multiple web sites, I suspect communication interception to be the culprit.

I am using Brave browser but the with BPP it is set to Firefox.

@Marcos After disabling "Protocol Filtering", I am not able to open BPP itself.

On clicking BPP icon, ESET opens with Red warning.

Appears something is busted within B&PP itself. Suggest you run an Eset repair install. Then reboot and see if the issue is resolved.

If this persists after the repair install, post a screen shot of B&PP screen with the red warning.
