  1. Dear community,

We appreciate you taking the time to share and discuss your experience with ESET in the forum. Interaction with people who use our products on day-to-day basis is very important and valuable to us as it helps improve both functionality and user experience.

Today, we would like to offer you an opportunity to directly talk to ESET product management team, the people in charge of the product development lifecycle. If you use ESET Remote Administrator to manage security of a computer network of any size, whether in your own organization or that of your customers, we would be interested in talking to you. Depending on your geographical location and preference, we could organize a conference call or even visit you in your office. We are interested in learning more about how you use the products and how they fit into your workflows, finding out what you like and not like about the products, what other solutions you use (to get an idea about what type of solutions we must be able to co-exist and even integrate with). Should you have questions for us, we will be happy to answer them, too. Of course, any information that you choose to share will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality. These meetings usually take between 60 and 90 minutes, we will be happy to adjust depending on your availability.

If you are interested, please contact us via a private message and we will get in touch.

We look forward to your feedback and hope that you will find this opportunity interresting.

    Thank you.

    Your ESET team.

  4. Hello,

This thread has steered away from its original topic, so to sum it up:

    • v8 as good as new till the end of the year - not true, since it lacks many protection layers added since
    • not possible to activate v8 - not true, our customer care will gladly send you your username and password based on your license key
    • v8 ignoring the "do not offer update" settings - while it may seem like it, not true. Back in the days, if we decided to issue incremental upgrade between two builds of the same version (say v8), the users could either download it manually, or have it offered automatically. This feature was not used to upgrade between versions (such as v8 to v9). The setting always was and is honored. However, since then, we have developed a more effective way of delivering upgrades, even between versions - and in order to ensure the highest level of protection to all our users (even those on older versions who had to manually check whether there was a new version available), we backported this upgrade feature to the older products as well - thus, it is a different method that is unrelated to the mentioned setting.
    • the analogy with the car dealership asking you to get a newer model is not accurate, since you would have to pay for the car, but this upgrade is free and is in the best interest of our users

Hopefully this clears up all of the unanswered or half-answered issues brought up in this thread.

    Regards,
    T.

  5. Hello,

We have recently learned of an issue that may affect your ERA Appliances. It is caused by an updated MySQL ODBC driver (Linux ODBC Connector package) and will manifest upon ERA service restart.

You can identify this issue by the "Error loading data" message shown in the console, or by trace.log entries mentioning missing ODBC driver.

More details, as well as the steps necessary to fix this issue (or prevent it, if you are not affected yet), can be found at https://support.eset.com/kb6760/

    Regards,
    Tomas

  6. Hello,

Based on your feedback, and in order to further improve user experience on our forum, we have just launched a new feature - reputation rank badges.

These image badges, shown in user info pane next to each user's posts, reflect their reputation rank and provide a better visual understanding of the user's level of experience on our forum.

We hope that you like this addition and that it will make using our forum just another bit easier and more interesting!

    On behalf of ESET Staff,
    Tomas

  7. Hello,

Later today, we are going to enable archiving feature on the forum.

Topics with no new responses within a 2-month period since the last response will be archived - meaning they will be accessible to read as usual, but will not accept new responses and will be labeled as archived.

We have decided to implement this in order to ensure that old issues don't mix with new ones, which, despite having similar symptoms, are caused by different things in most cases. Also, submitting a separate new topic for a new issue will remove doubts, which could arise now, about whether the poster is experiencing all of the symptoms described in an old issue, or just some of them. Additionally, new topics are easier to notice than revived topics, so this has the potential to improve the response rate as well.

We hope this new feature will make navigating our ESET Security Forum easier for you.

    On behalf of ESET staff,
    TomasP

Not sure if staff are aware that anyone (logged out and in) can see all the Groups available on the ESET Forum? Is this okay @Marcos, @MS-adm, @dwomack?

Hi planet, thanks for the heads up.

We have modified the visibility of the groups.

I have also removed the image from your post, so that the groups are not visible there.

  9. Hello forum users,

Earlier this year we have launched a new feature on the forum – reputation ranks – in order to mark reputable content, reward quality posts and motivate our users to engage on the forum (you can read more about the reputation system here).

Some time has passed and now we would like to collect your feedback on it. We would greatly appreciate if you could participate in a short survey that will help us understand your experience with the reputation system so far.

The survey is available on the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/9NlHZbBi3ynpvtup1 (now closed - see below).

    Thank you!
    Your ESET Security Forum team

  10. Hello Bruno,

In cases of such applications, it is indeed true that all its components that open connections need to have allowing rules created in our firewall.

If you still can't use it properly, please describe step by step what versions of each piece of software you have, what you do, where you connect to, so that we can simulate the same conditions here and test it out.

    Thanks,
    T.

  11. Hi again and thanks for the feedback.

However, we have decided to keep the forums as they are, because ESET Cyber Security and ESET Cyber Security Pro are more like ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus, which have their separate forums as well.
ESET Internet Security is much more similar to ESET Smart Security, than ESET Cyber Security is to ESET Cyber Security Pro.

    Thanks for the understanding!

    Tomas

  12. Hi Phoenix,
Regarding physical purchase of a product box, it is easy - you purchase a box and give it someone who then registers it.
As for direct online purchase of a digital license, this can vary from country to country, as our partners may have different methods of ordering and registering the license, so it would be best to contact them, as suggested by Gonzalo in the post above.

  13. Hello forum users!

Today we are announcing a brand new feature on our forum – Reputation ranks.

For quite some time we wanted to have a system that would automatically mark content posted by reputable users, so that it would gain trustworthiness in the eyes of anyone who reads the posts.

By launching Reputation ranks we not only achieve that, but they also serve as a motivation for you, our users, to reach higher levels and have a more prestigious rank next to your username.

The ranks are awarded automatically based on the number of Kudos you have earned from other users (whether it was for posting an interesting link, or a solution to an issue somebody experienced).
Thus, we also encourage you to use the voting system and award a Kudo when you see a quality post. There is no limit on the Kudos you may give and it lets the user know their post was interesting or helpful – it’s basically saying ‘thanks’ – and you may help somebody reach the next rank as well!

With that being said, here are the actual ranks and their Kudo ranges:

    Kudos Rank
    2500+ Grandmaster
    1000-2499 Master
    500-999 Wiseman
    250-499 Senior Advisor
    100-249 Advisor
    50-99 Consultant
    20-49 Senior Contributor
    10-19 Contributor
    6-9 Rising star
    2-5 Trainee
    1 Novice
    0 Newcomer

After some time, we will evaluate the usefulness of this feature and we may also ask you to provide your feedback in a short survey.

We hope you enjoy this new addition to our forum!

    Regards,
    Tomas
