brummel 0
I'm confused about different proxy settings in the security product proxy settings. There are two different places where a proxy can be configured: Update - HTTP Proxy Tools -> Proxy Server So which one does what and where do I have to configure a caching proxy to minimize internet traffic on client updates. Administrators Solution Marcos 4,694 Posted March 6, 2015 Administrators Solution Share Posted March 6, 2015 Hello, if you connect to the Internet via a proxy server (ie. when browsing websites), you should configure it in Tools -> Proxy server so that all communication of the product (e.g. with update, activation, license, cloud servers, etc.) is carried out via the proxy server. If you want to take advantage of an http proxy server for updates only, configure it in the update setup.
brummel 0
Thanks for your answer. BTW: Is there any place where I can see what the ESET apache HTTP proxy server is doing in order to check if my clients are correctly using the configured chaching proxy server? Administrators Marcos 4,694 Posted March 6, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 6, 2015 You can see cached files along with headers in "C:\Program Files\Apache HTTP Proxy\cache".
Former ESET Employees Timos 8 Posted March 6, 2015 Former ESET Employees Share Posted March 6, 2015 Look in the config of ApacheHttpProxy httpd.conf for value of parameter CacheRoot. Value is path where files are cached.
sdnian 5
The value of CacheRoot is "C:\ProgramData\Apache HTTP Proxy\cache"
Former ESET Employees Timos 8 Posted March 6, 2015 Former ESET Employees Share Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) This is default value when installed with All-in-one installer on Windows Vista and newer. So your cached files should be in "C:\ProgramData\Apache HTTP Proxy\cache". Beware, ApachaHttpProxy uses its own proprietary format for cache, so it not very easy to tell what it is caching.
