Administrators Marcos 4,931 Posted February 2, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 2, 2015 Maybe you have a lot of large archives (e.g. iso images) on your disk and it takes time to unpack them and to scan each of the files inside. Try disabling archives to see how much it speeds up scans.

Administrators Marcos 4,931 Posted February 2, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 2, 2015 Also check if you have Smart optimization as well as Live Grid enabled. If so, subsequent scans should be much faster.
rugk 397
...and of course it would be useful to know how much data (in GB/TB/...) the scan had to scan approximately. If we would know this then we could made a better "evaluation" of this high amount of time. I just mean it's a difference whether it takes so long to scan 5GB or 5TB. rugk 397
Ohh and when did you start it? How much does it have to scan? (The default settings for smart scan are to scan every local drive on the computer.)

Administrators Marcos 4,931 Posted February 4, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 4, 2015 Safe mode scan? So you started Windows in safe mode and scanned the disk... But you should still be able to find the log in the GUI of ESS... Egui doesn't run in safe mode, only a scan with ecls.exe is possible. Ecls creates text logs if logging is enabled via the /log-file=<NAME> switch, ie. they don't appear in gui later.
Frazzy 0
how do i know if everything is ok my last scan took 4 hours Edited February 4, 2015 by Frazzy
Administrators Marcos 4,931 Posted February 5, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 5, 2015 You can run a smart scan with logging of all scanned files enabled so that you can see what file is being scanned at a moment. This will produce a large log so you should disable logging once you've confirmed that the scan works alright and is not stuck on a particular file. rugk 397
Well... Is there a single file for which the scan took very long or is it not tied to a special file?
