ekrn.exe Crashes on Win2016 with RDS

Recommended Posts

Good day,

Please may you help me. I have a problem with ESET service stopping and starting every second. Reboot fixes the problem for few days.

I have noticed that the service has problems after an update. I looked at the Windows eventlog for the first ESET service stop event and it coincides with the date on the update files lastupd.ver, mod.ver and upd.ver

I have attached the ESET Log Collector's logs

Any attachments in the forum are available only to ESET staff.

I'd recommend creating an ekrn dump using Procdump;  run "procdump -ma -e ekrn" and provide it to us when generated. I'd also recommend creating a support ticket with your local ESET distributor so that the case is properly tracked.

The command fails. I will create a support ticket with local ESET distributor.

C:\temp>procdump -ma -e ekrn

Error opening ekrn.exe (12788):
Access is denied. (0x00000005, 5)

Hello @DJ007,

in the ESET GUI to to Advanced setup -> Tools -> Diagnostics, set dump type to full and save the settings.

Once the ESET service crashes again, it will write a diagnostics dump.

Once done, collect the logs by means of ESET Log Collector, upload them to a safe location and send me a private message with download details with a reference to this forum topic to check it.

Regards, Peter
