mjbj 0
Hi. Although admittedly I do not use ESET products usually, I have tried the ESET Online Scanner. Unfortunately, it will now not remove (I have tried its uninstaller). It does not show up in Apps & Features. We use Windows 10 (Home, 64-bit), current version 1809 (17763.529). Any assistance gratefully received.
Administrators Marcos 5,257 Posted June 2, 2019 Administrators Share Posted June 2, 2019 ESET Online Scanner does not install in the system. It remains in the location where you downloaded it.
mjbj 0
In the start menu, I am given an uninstall option, but that still has no effect. It is still present on the desktop and still will not remove.
Administrators Marcos 5,257 Posted June 2, 2019 Administrators Share Posted June 2, 2019 There is a link in the Start menu that points to the executable you downloaded, ie. it's typically located in the Download folder. That said, there's nothing to uninstall, just delete the shortcut from the Start menu and possibly also the executable from the Download folder and that's all. mjbj 0
In the Start menu, in the Recently Installed there is no delete option, rather a 'remove from this list' option instead which I have done. However, the programs in WIndows 10 are listed alphabetically and under 'E', the entry for ESET Online Scanner is still showing. The only options showing in that instance are: Pin to taskbar Run as administrator Open File Location and Uninstall As previously mentioned, Uninstall does not work. Therefore a possible option is 'Open File Location' which brings up the following location: C:\Users\Wendy\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and then delete the Start Menu entry from there. I have deleted from the folder I downloaded it to, but the desktop icon/shortcut is still there. Therefore, is the solution to manually delete that too? It seems silly to me to have to manually delete everything this way, and I want to ensure all traces are removed (I have also tried the ESET Uninstaller tool which I found, but which did not work). Thanks for replying though. Please advise further what to do next.
Administrators Marcos 5,257 Posted June 2, 2019 Administrators Share Posted June 2, 2019 After running a scan you are presented with an option to delete application data on closing but it seems it basically removes only the modules. I'll look into it some time soon during work hours in the office and discuss it with devs.

mjbj 0
Well, an update on things: Today, I tried clicking on the Start Menu link, and it no longer worked and asked me to delete it; so I did. The same thing happened with the desktop icon, so that's gone now. Whatever happened, whatever I did last night it seems to have gone now (although I expect there'll be a couple of folders here and there). Presumably the Quarantine folder has gone now too? mjbj 0
Looks like things have resolved themselves now. Hopefully any folders found on C: drive can be deleted.
mmh 0
the Eset online scanner has installed some files in my users/AppData folder. Should I delete all the files or should I use some uninstaller?

Should I delete all the files or should I use some uninstaller? It's normal for apps to create files in that directory. It's also quite frequently happens that files remain in that directory after the app has been uninstalled. Since you seem overly concerned about residual files created by Eset's Online Scanner app, then remove the files. Just make sure you are removing files related to it and not some other currently installed app. -EDIT- Quote After every scan, you have the option to delete the ESET Online Scanner program files and components. Select the check box next to Delete application data on closing to automatically uninstall the scanner when you click Submit and close. However, if any files were quarantined, the ESET Online Scanner directories will not be removed. Manual Uninstall: Delete the esetonlinescanner directory from the following location: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ESET\ESETOnlineScanner https://support.eset.com/kb405/?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US Edited June 15, 2019 by itman
