Johnny99 0
hello I am currently backing up DRM free games from GOG on my external HDD and I want to ask, since I know the installers are virus free should I disable eset before downloading them and putting on my HDD? what happens to the files when they are automatically scanned upon being downloaded? yes I'm perhaps a bit paranoid thanks
Administrators Marcos 5,234 Posted March 7, 2017 Administrators Share Posted March 7, 2017 Is the download significantly slower with ESET protection enabled? If not, I would keep protection enabled at all times.
Johnny99 0
no it doesn't slow down download and it doesn't slow down the speed it becomes written on the disk either so it doesn't modify the files in any way?

jdashn 12
ESET wouldn't be in business if they modified files they scanned.. unless it's a virus/pup it is not modified. IMO it's kinda silly to turn off virus protection, moreso when connected to the internet. Are you more concerned if ESET is watching the contents of the files? Johnny99 0
well I wouldn't like them watching it but if watching is the only thing and they aren't modifying it anyhow then that is good
Johnny99 0
so it doesn't modify/do anything to them, right?
Administrators Marcos 5,234 Posted March 8, 2017 Administrators Share Posted March 8, 2017 Quote it doesn't slow down the speed it becomes written on the disk either Unfortunately I don't understand what you mean by this. ESET does not modify files except cleaning viruses or documents with malicious macros.
