  1. I see "Ashamp..." is that connected to some type of Ashampoo software perhaps. Could it be a PUA detection?

I don't use Ashampoo so I don't know if they bundle something with their software or not.

Oh yeah, it is a bundle of junk from CNET. That wasn't my point, it was the different graphic that I had never seen before so i thought I would comment on it.

I hate that bundled and NOD32 warned me about it. The software containing the PUAs is something I just wanted to try..

  2. I have used Eset for years and it has never let me down.  I personally wouldn't pay much attention to the tests as I don't trust the results.   I feel that some of them are sponsored by companies and the sponsors normally end up with a good ranking.

I have tried many other of the AV's over the years but have always come back to Eset.   You pay your money and takes your choice.  I am happy with mine.

I have NOD32 on ALL of my computers and unless something very unusual happens, I will keep doing it.

Sorry but I am in the wrong place but what I said still stands. :)

  3. Hello NOD32 Support Representative:

I just started getting this warning today 13 DAYS out from expiration. The taskbar icon is now a triangular orange with an exclamation point in it, and there is a BIG "Eset NOD32 Requires Your Attention" in LARGE lettering at the top of the Home window. I NOW have to endure this NAGGING for 13 days.

This kind of NAGGING is NOT NECESSARY given that one sees the License expiration under the Basic Overview heading in the HOME window when one opens NOD32. PLEASE remove this renewel nag and stop treating people like IDIOTS that need to be herded like sheep.

    PLEASE.........

    Spotter

    Could not agree more.

I still have 2 more licenses that will need renewal this year.

    I just can't wait. ;)

  4. I found this yesterday, so you could probably have renewed when you started this thread without loosing any days that were left according to this...

Can I extend my license before the expiration date?

ESET does not currently offer a license extension program. You may renew up to 90 days before your license expires, and 60 days after your license expires. If you do decide to renew before your expiration date, your new expiration will not take effect until your original expiration date passes.

    ---------------------------------

The way I read this is, If the license expire on June 6 but you decided to renew 25 days earlier, those 25 days would still count down on your old license period, and the new 12 month period that you renewed for would start after the old period have expired even if you renewed earlier.

But the question is if one would still see the expire notification even if one have renewed earlier, so do the product "see" via the license servers that "this users has renewed the license so there's no need to show the notification because a new license period will start automatically after the expire date" or how does that work?

    Hmmmm interesting.

I have 2 more license expiratiions coming up later this year.

I will see what happens so I am not nagged 13 days before theyexpire.

    Many thanks.

  5. FWIW. If you want to turn them off.

How do I disable Windows update notifications in ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus?[/size]

    hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN3192&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1402520896195

Yes some like the new look and some don't. Personally I didn't like it first to be honest.

But now I actually like it even more than the previous one. It's just an icon after all. :)

    It's about time.... ;)

  6. Hi Miinii,

I would love the chance to hear from other users besides myself, and i assume that is the intention here.

I use Premium Malwarebytes with real-time protection, and i use ESET Smart Security, (currently).

I receive no hit in performance at all using the two simultaneously. ( This is with a Core2 Quad, 6GB Ram, Solid SSD, Win7 home prem.) ( I also use the combo around the office with no reduction in perf.)

Have also never experienced a performance hit running Malwarebytes with Nod32, because that is what i used previously before upgrading to ESET Smart Security.

I encourage anyone else running the two products to give their 2 cents here. :)

    Here you go; I have 5 computers-4 Windows 7 64bit and 1 computer Vista 32bit.

All have MBAM Premium 2.0.2.1012 and NOD32 7.0.317.4 amd I have absolutely no problems. :)

    My 2 centa

  7. I am in the UK. I am keeping an eye on the UK Amazon site. AV companies tend to regionalise their products so I would not want to risk getting a version not intended for my locale. I an VERY jealous of the deals our colonial cousins :D get in retail. It breaks my heart every time I visit the USA.

I have resisted saying that in deference to ESET.

  8. Since 2-3 weeks I'm getting these annoying notifications telling me that my license ends in X days. The orange warn sign, the notification pop-up in the task bar, the ERROR notification window on EVERY single PC start?! Really ESET?

I KNOW IT! And even if I forget it, remind me 24-48 hours before license end. You see the difference between annoying and reminding?

And, please, don't display the warn sign in the task bar. It feels like I'm running a trial version or something in the last weeks. Just let me enjoy your product as I bought it.

    Thanks.

    I agree 100% :(

  9. Hi

I clicked quote but nothing happened so I'll just post here.

As I said, I have licenses thru 2016 and will update the next one on June 6 and put up with this nonsense.

I guess my Basset Hound Fred unpinned NOD32 from at least two of my start menus. Darn him.

I have 5 licensed computers but the other two don't expire until later this year.

For those of you in the U. S., enjoy Memorial Day. :)

  10. Since yesterday I have gotten a message that my license was about to expire in 13 days. This morning I got a message that my license was about to expire in 12 days AND the program was unpinned from the start menu. What's next? The program will be uninstalled?

I have licenses thru 2016 and will renew my present license when it expires on June 6. I have the 3 computer licenses.

Any way to stop these games that ESET is playing?

    Yes, I am not happy.
