Not much consolation but I am running outpost and NOD32 (latest versions of both) on 5 computers with no trouble.
Thanks for your report jadinolf that's good to know. It is possible that Outpost have made some changes in recent version to work better with some AV's.
Do you use them on Win7 64-bit wich is the platform where the OP had issues on?
Four are Windows 7 64 bit.
One is Vista 32 bit.

For the record, I get no reports when clicking on your links. Tried several times.
I was expecting for others to join in, but nothing.

The only opportunity I have ever had to speak with any antivirus program tech support was with ESET in San Diego, California.
Very pleasent experience.

If I'm not mistaken, I seem to remember Smart Security telling me to uninstall those programs before installing S.S.I would be using it with Malewarebytes as well and windows firewall. I think I should be ok. Norton Internet Security is done, I can't wait to uninstall that.
Of course, I'm an old man and my memory is fading.
-
I just bought the AV because I already had Malewarebytes, Superantispyware and Outpost firewall.
If I didn't I definitely would have bought Smart Security.

I have the paid Lifetime version on all 5 of my computers (4 Windows 7 and 1 Vista).
The only problem I am having is that sometimes I cannot shut down and have to go thru a simple change in procedure to do it.
I understand that they will be releasing another set of fixes soon and I hope that this problem will be included.
I ran the beta on all 5 of my computers and mentioned the problem on their forum but never saw any other mention of it.
Yes, my fingers are crossed.

Welcome to the forum Angie. My name is Joe. I think ESET is the only antivirus you will ever need.Hi my name is Angie and I am running Windows 7 Pro. Right now the only anti virus I have is ESET. I am new to the forum and I look forward to learning new things.
I have it on 5 computers and am very happy with it.

And I have 3 Webroot licenses I would gladly pass on to anyone who wants them.I imagine you are not running 64 bit windows 8, or you may have noticed Windows explorer is running 300/ 500 meg and you browsers crawl.
Stick with what works on your system.
I have ywo year webroot license I cannot use.
That's computers, I don't think Microsoft make it easy for anyone these days, but that's just my thoughts.

No complaints here.
I know, I'm a weirdo.
Be gentle guys.

Hmmm....Let me guess US only?
I guess.
Hop a plane and move here.

The last copies of NON32 Antivirus cost me $4.99.
I get an email from them every day.
Problem is I now have licenses until 2017 and I'm almost 80 years old.

First, I like the strong stance on PUAs
It does a wonderful job.
Another reason for choosing NOD32 Antivirus.

You are most welcome, siljaline. Thanks for this, Joe B)
I should say, the pleasure is all mine.
-
Good for you jadinolf!
Yes siljaline is a wise and good person! B)
Yes, he is.
-
If things weren't slow here I wouldn't post this but as of today I now have NOD32 Antivirus installed on all 5 of my computers.
Everything is just fine here and I am very happy.
I owe it all to siljaline who recommended it.

Hello,
I have nod32 v7. Today, I wanted to download the free new Ccleaner 4.10 from Piriform, ccsetup410.exe". Nod32 says it is a potentially dangerous program because there is a g**gle Toolbar in the installer. No warning was given In the previous versions of nod32.
So did Eset change something in its V7 detection? Or does Piriform use a new trick for its toolbar ?
Previous versions of ccleaner also had this toolbar and let the user to install it or not.
I'm sure ESET does not enter into tths equation. Piriform (Ccleaner) might make a few pennies if you install it.
If you want the toolbar, fine. If you don't just uninstall it.
-
No such warning here,
You don't want any toolbar.
Look for a different source,

This is just my experience. I don't see any resource hogging and I have Nod32 on 4 computers.
I'm sure that many share this experience.
It can't be just me that is so fortunate.
-
Now I can mark this solved.
Thank you all.
