  1. Hello Jadinolf

Try this article from Eset knowledgebase:Error downloading file and cannot update virus signature database in ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus (6.x)

    Regards, Janus

Janus, that did it! Of course you knew it would.

    Last successful update was 9/14/2013

Thank you very much. So nice to have knowledgeable people here.

One more question - I have licenses for 4 computers. Should I clear the other computers while I'm at it?

    Thanks again.

  2. This is a new one on me.

On one computer I get the message : "Virus signature update ended with an error"

My last successful update was 9/10/2013

I am using that computer for this post so it certainly is on line.

I've given up trying to get a successful update so I am coming to you experts.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  3. Thanks jadinolf !!! :)

    No worries.

I am friends with hentaixen, i am sure he is ok with me commenting on his thread ! :)

    "

How is your Eset running Jadinolf?

    "

    Running beautifully.

I now have licensing for four of my computers - 3 Windows 7 and 1 XP SP3. I now have my 2014 licenses on the way.

At my age I might not be around to activate them. :(

  4. For the record, that Newegg deal is FREE after rebate if you are on Newegg's mailing list.

My present license for 3 computers doesn't expire until June of next year but I couldn't resist ordering it.

The package is on it's way from Memphis right now.

edit: I just saw that this deal was mentioned elsewhere on the forum. Anyway, it's over with. :(

    @jadinolf

I use ESS and MBAM On-demand not the Pro version in real-time.  But IMO it is totally unnecessary to run SAS Pro in real-time also along ESET and MBAM. (if that was your question mentioning all three, not sure)

So my suggestion is, either you use ESS alone like me, or you could use ESS and add MBAM Pro too if you like, even if I think that is too much for real-time protection as well.

I don't like to run several AV's/AM's in real-time and put in exsclusions etc etc.. So I have always used ESS alone, and everything else on-demand only. Before I used MBAM and SAS on-demand, but I don't even use SAS on-demand anymore. Only MBAM.

(I say used, but I don't actually scan once every 6'th month with either of the OD scanners as I feel it wasn't needed.)

I always only use 1 thing in real-time, better for system performance etc etc... and if something goes wrong I only have program to troubleshoot with, not two, three programs like some users use. It's too much simple as that lol, and I believe it causes more problems than offering more protection by using more than one in real-time. I think it's better to put in OS restrictions than add more real-time programs, though personally I don't have many OS restrictions either :P Good for high risk users, but not for me. :)

I run mbam in real time and eset , real time.

    They work just fine.

Superantispyware is the only of the three that will get rid of tracking cookies.

mbam doesnt do this, neither does eset.

So i dont use real time on SAS and use it to scan regularly for cookies, it does a better job then any other progam i have found, besides using host file or hitmanpro !

Thanks very much for the information.

I ran a scan while I was walking my dog and it found nothing which is normal.

  6. Thank you all. I will install the trial version today as you suggested. Good idea.

The reason I asked about SAS and MBAM is because I downloaded the beta of Smart Security 7 and as I recall it told me to uninstall those programs.

As it turned out, it would not install on my Vista laptop so I gave up after several attempts.

I bought Smart Security 7 for my only Win XP computer. I have three Windows 7 computers and they have Nod32 Antivirus installed.

Thanks for all the comments and wish me luck.

  7. If you have a third party firewall. Yes remove.

Malwarebytes works with Eset. If you have issues contact malwarebytes as they publicly state full

Compatibility & if not they will work with vendor to make it happen no matter the adjustment needed.

SuperAntiSpyware may just need Real time protection disabled.

Arakasi, thank you very much for the prompt reply.

I am looking forward to trying Smart Security. I already have NOD32 Antivirus on 3 computers.

    Most appreciated.

One feature I would really like to see is a scan when the screensaver is activated. My previous internet security program had that feature and I really liked it.

From personal experience, more malware was found during screensaver scan than any other method

Hello "Jad" fyi as I don't believe anyone informed you on your post on wants for a computer scan when screen saver activates = in version 6.0.316 there is EXACTLY that option under advanced option and then realtime scanner under "IDLE STATE Scanning options, uncheck ALL but your screen saver and your scan will be performed when screen saver kicks in, hope this helps as I am a new member here but a 100% ESET CUSTOMER / USER ALL THE WAY.

    Thank you for the post

I really appreciate it. I am new to NOD32 and realize now that I should print out the manual and learn more about this wonderful program.

I think that I have followed your steps accurately, so let's see what happens.

I have three computers on this license so, two more to go.

    Many thanks.,

  9. I just wanted to say how amazing Eset is. Seriously, I have been studying AV software for awhile now and nothing impresses me more than eset. (And I was a former Norton, Bitdefender, Kaspersky user)

Eset is world class protection. Just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work, I will definitely buy eset in the future : D you guys are awesome

    I agree 100%

  10.  I realize no antivirus can stop everything, but NOD32 stops very little if you ask me!

Hard to believe what you say. I have little experience with NOD32 but I feel that with NOD 32, I have a friend riding along with me.
