  1. Well at least there's been no posts since the release regarding panics, so that's a good sign!  :)

The topic for feedback is for all users, but I guess no one's really added anything to this date - I do wish it was in the non Pro section or in both (somehow) as the non Pro section seems to be the more active than this section. I do update it often, depending on new releases or issues found/resolved... there's still some that haven't been fixed yet (like Parental Control not working) but I do think that ESET's aware.

  2. Just a few things you could do:

    • Visit the link rugk provides under this post and add "EasyList Standard" and "EasyPrivacy".
    • Visit Google's Ads Settings to see what information Google has about you for their ads, and scroll down and click "Opt-out" for both columns if available. It's ideal to login to your Google Account if you have one so these settings can apply to your account instead of just your browser.
    • Following SweX's post, consider visiting hxxp://www.aboutads.info/choices/ which has a larger company list to opt-out from them all, to which you can then install "Protect My Choices" for Internet Explorer (but is in Beta) to retain your opt-out even after clearing your cookies.
    • Make sure you're using the latest version of Internet Explorer which blocks third-party cookies by default, by checking and installing from Windows Update on your computer.
  3. Have you fixed the issue with Windows 8.1 telling Eset has stopped working? Happens like ten times a day with version 7.

Tommy your the only one experiencing this on windows 8.1, and if there are others, they can speak up.

I use it on windows 8.1 and i dont have that problem.

I'm using both version 7 and 8 beta on two different Windows 8.1 machines and have not had any issues with Smart Security.  :)

  4. I'm having problems with session timeout. I'm browsing different posts or writing a bit longer reply and I have to log in again. Seems to be very short and random.

I got logged out by the time I finished writing this post the last three times. Next time I logged in front page, browsed to General Discussion thread and I was already logged out. Next time I logged in, I got logged out right after I entered password.

Paste does not work. Not with Ctrl+V nor with the three icons in reply box toolbar. And since paste doesn't work, I had to write this all over again.

    Using IE11 on Windows 8.1

For the session timeouts, try logging into the forums in a new private browsing window (or a different browser) and leave the window open for a little while, possibly browsing some topics. If it doesn't log you out after a while, logout and clear your cookies for Internet Explorer. You might need to uncheck "Preserve favourite website data".

For pasting, see if right clicking the reply box and clicking 'Paste' does the trick. If not, see if any of the three methods work in the main reply box (by clicking "More Reply Options").

  5. Just making sure, does this particular issue continue to happen even after clearing the cache from the Application manager, uninstalling ESET Mobile Security from within the app itself, restarting the device and then reinstalling the latest version, after the Android upgrade?

  6. I've also been experiencing the exact same issues in Version 6.

As soon as Cyber Security is uninstalled, everything is back to normal again.

Being patient as much as possible, after a while I just couldn't take it anymore - every link is like a dead end, you need to click refresh about ten times before it finally decides to load the page for you.

I constantly saw in the logs in the Console, "Cannot write to socket" or "Broken pipe" or "Connect reset" all from esets_proxy.

Been having this issue since early June, and what's a little uncomfortable is that whilst experiencing these freezes, Cyber Security (and Pro) also no longer keeps anti-phishing and web protection active, so you're no longer protected on the web. It also links to Parental Control no longer monitoring connections either, every page goes through fine no matter the blocked sites you enter. To confirm this I visited the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organisation Feature Settings Check, particularly the Phishing Page which ESET supports. If you test it shortly after installation, it blocks it fine. If you test it when you notice the freezes, it is not blocked.

If you uninstall Cyber Security (and Pro), then install it again, no freezes occur - it only starts to happen after a while, you need to leave it installed for a couple of hours, days, even weeks - it depends every time.

Restarting the Mac provides a temporary fix, until browsing starts freezing again and are left unprotected.

  7. Just thought I'd say that 6.0.13.0 has now been released which solves both the Kernel Panic and Firewall (Application Paths) issue.  :)

  8. I'm just posting to let everyone know that a new official version has been released!

:D Yay! Hopefully this kernel panic issue can be laid to rest now for everyone.

  9. Amazon's ESET Mobile Security currently has the version 2.0.868.0 according to the page Aryeh linked earlier in the thread.

ESET's Website currently has the version 3.0.882.0.

Google Play's ESET Mobile Security currently has the version 3.0.964.0-0.

In previous Google Play versions, I was never able to activate using my ESET Username and Password or Key, as the only avaliable option was to use the device's store in-app purchase function for subscriptions (Google Play for version 2 of Mobile Security did this for example), which forced me to use ESET's Website version at the time which allowed username and passwords.

In this most recent version on Google Play, this is no longer an issue and can freely use my username and password, as shown in this KB Article.

I have a feeling that due to the Amazon version being outdated, Doctor9fan is having this issue especially since purchasing the license from ESET directly?

I then bought a two-year subscription from eset directly.

  10. P.S. An extraneous but related issue is that on 05-June-2014, Eset sent me an email requesting that I change my password for this website (Eset's Security Forum).  Since I wasn't currently using this website, I put that email into my ToDo folder.  But now I want to comply with Eset's request that I change my password, but although Eset's email gave me a link to how to create strong passwords (I have four different password generator utilities that I switch whenever I need a password, so I didn't need that), but it didn't explain where and how to persuade a new password to replace the old one on this website.

I would appreciate instructions about how to do that.  Please remember that I am an ignoramus, and need detailed step-by-step instructions.

    Thanks.

    Hi RNFolsom,

The annoucement (and topic) was edited on this website shortly after sending the email with instructions on how to change your password which you can view here, or quoted directly:

To change your email and/or password:

Click your name at the top right of the window

    Click My Settings

In the menu on the left, click Email & Password

Enter your new email and/or password

  11. How do I install this fix?  Do I simply drag my current ESET Security Cyber Pro app (6.0.9.1) icon from my Applications Folder to the trash can and then open the .dmg file and proceed as usual?  Do I need to manually remove any other files?  Or can I simply install over the current, buggy version?

Also, where do I move the info_get.command script?  Or do I leave it in my downloads folder and choose to open it with iTerm.app (if and when that becomes necessary)?

Do you have any further suggestions/instructions on how to proceed?

    Hi ShoreRoadMan,

    For the first question:

With the command script, you only need to use it if ESET Support needs logs from you - so at the moment you don't need to do anything with it. If the time does come, you simply double click on the file and follow the instructions from there.

A suggestion would be to backup your Mac with Time Machine before installing the new build so if anything does go wrong, you can restore your Mac back to a working state. (Personally I've never had any trouble with this build, but it's good to be safe)

  12. Had a similar issue not too long ago on Windows 7 - I reinstalled Smart Security and I couldn't get any Internet access, even though there was no real reason for it not to work. To get it working again, I did a couple of things so I do not know if just one, multiple, or all helped:

    1. Uninstalled Realtek Ethernet drivers via Add/Remove Programs
    2. Disabled network adapter
    3. Flushed DNS
    4. Reset TCP/IP (Microsoft KB: 299357)
    5. Reset Winsock
    6. Reset all firewall rules, profiles and removed zones from Smart Security
    7. Restarted computer
    8. Enabled network adapter
    9. Smart Security shows window to set network to a profile
    10. Left all default settings and selected either 'Home' or 'Public'
    11. Internet Connection started working again

Might not be relevant and might seem pointless, but I thought I may as well post it in case it helps.

  13. @Mods

Wouldn't it be good to add some information to post #1 in this thread so users more easily can see how they can get their hands on the fixed build? As I don't think anyone will read through all the pages until they find Peter's post.

    Thanks.

More than happy to edit my post (it's 2nd) if you'd like?

  14. Just wanted to chip in and say that the build you can recieve from Peter has resolved my issue for over a month now, so hopefully it has the same great result for users who decide on the build - or wait it out for the next public release. :)

  15. When looking at Time Machine Preferences, if the switch is moved to the 'Off' position (so you manually connect the external drive and click 'Back Up Now') and you can only see your LaCie external drive listed - it seems unlikely that there's anyone else using Time Machine on your Mac... keep your Mac secure from unwanted physical access and if you've completed a deep scan of your Mac (Open ESET Cyber Seuciry > Computer Scan > 'Deep Scan'), it seems unlikely.

Consider using FileVault in the Security section of System Preferences in order to encrypt your Mac, and even encrypting your Time Machine backup, which is done by adding a device to Time Machine with 'Encrypt backups' enabled.

Edit: So after checking my setup, ESET does not show "Boot OS X" even though I've connected my Time Machine device. I've edited a few things to make sure I wasn't giving the wrong information - it's hard to know what an exact issue is without sufficiently diagnosing your Mac.

After further research, you may be seeing it due to a bad OS X upgrade recently, a misconfigured Time Machine (when OS X tried to add it's recovery partition to your backup external drive), your storage device in your mac being formatted in a nonstandard way... it could also be something else, once again I can't be sure.

I may be wrong, but I think ESET is simply listing that drive, partition, etc. in their application and wouldn't be the cause of why you're seeing "Boot OS X".

You could contact Apple Support or head on over to the Apple Support Communities website to get a more accurate answer regarding the "Boot OS X" issue.  :)

  16. Hi BLKn,

Do you use Time Machine for that flash drive or any other flash drive / external hard drive? How about Carbon Copy Cloner? Any recent software updates performed? In recent releases, OS X adds a new hidden boot EFI partition on the Time Machine disk, possibly named "Boot OS X".

I'm not sure if hidden partitions like this one are an issue with Cyber Security, as I think it just grabs whatever partitions are available (both hidden and visible)... However someone from ESET may need to confirm this.

  17. Hi,

Although I set the exclusions as per the KB article, Time Machine is still slow with Real-time File System Protection enabled. As soon as I disable it, the backup is immediately faster and backing up as usual. Is there something else that should be excluded?

I do manual Time Machine backups (by clicking 'Back Up Now' from the menu, not automatically) with a USB 3.0 External Drive which is encrypted from Time Machine Preferences.

  18. I don't presume he is using cyber security. but the windows versions due to his choice of screen shot to represent.

Sorry, in the KB you linked it provides screenshots for Training in both Cyber Security and Smart Security, which is why I just used my Mac to explain.

German versions would probably answer the question why it is not included. Or it may be US only.

I have a feeling it's US only, as where I am we also don't have that 'Training' section in either program although we use English.

EDIT: Now certain it's only for the US, as when I also try to visit the link provided in the KB, it just redirects to the local ESET product store.
