  1. I could reply with more debate but im not. Good day to you sir. Thanks for your feedback. Back to ver 7 Still loving it immensly. Thank you Eset & staff.
  2. You must have made something wrong. If a threat is detected, there will be no problem to delete or clean the file providing that Windows or another application isn't using the file exclusively. Please create a new topic where we can troubleshoot it further. Although there's still room for improvements, ESET products are one of the best in terms of detection and performance. Marcos' post is absolutely correct. Its backed by tests and reviews web wide. If the malware in question isnt being removed, switch to safe mode and rescan. It could be open in other programs. If that doesnt work... pull your drive and plug it up to another machine to scan isolated. This is standard removal etiquette.
  3. This is a feedback thread 0strodamus, Not a post your negative comments thread. My post is about a legitimate flaw i found in the programming that needs to be considered as something to correct or check for. We have moderators that can remove the bad or misinformation. And to answer your question. Compatibilities between virus programs have existed for years. 3rd party programs have been shutting off av-builds in windows security for 30 years. I dont have time to hunt down where i read or received sources; but confirmed by Microsoft, even security essentials.... THE "Microsoft Security Essentials" NON-Windows 8 version, shuts off Windows defender by design for 7, Vista, XP, etc hxxp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/mse-protect_start/windows-defender-and-microsoft-security-essentials/5309cb8d-02e1-40e8-974f-0dcedb9ab9fd I know several software suits that turn off windows defender and the like to keep cross compatibility flaws down. I may have been confused that it suggests or prompts the user to shut it off, its still hard coded into Windows when 3rd party is installed, it either recognizes it or similar suggests action. I will re-word my post, but i should not have to. Again, lets keep posts to assist with ver7.
  4. I would not buy ver 2.7 when there is a ver 6 and (7beta for free till End of Oct. [i think]) . Meaning.... your going to be using a dumbed down, featureless program. Granted you will still have the nod32 engine, you might be missing out on a whole lot more opportunities by just purchasing the updated ver6 from ESET's site. Or if your looking for a better deal, look for ver6 from other vendors at least. MHO !
  5. The best software for tracker catch as well as adware.tracking cookies is SuperAntiSpyware. My favorite AV software is ESET, but nothing compares to SAS when it comes to tracking cookies. Nothing !!!! HitmanPro comes close. Most cookies are harmless though, thus not detected by major AV programs like Mbam and Eset. Hope i helped.
  6. Also, you get a message ? What kind of message ? Where is it located ? Can you provide a screen shot of your picture... a link to it will be fine ? .
  7. It was actually found on my phone and removed ugly. There are a few methods of closing, and not closing, that i found which would stop eset from running in memory, and other methods that it would remain running in memory. However when used properly and key words here " Left alone " ie "quit messing with it" . The app runs and protects as it should. Its almost like if you are sitting at your desktop and you uninstall your av, or disable your av , " now check and see if you get infected" ... sure you do. I will explain in more detail my findings, results, and what works and doesnt work tomorrow at work or after. I do however notice, as i stated earlier, my bugs, worries, concerns, were patched either by google or eset just prior to v2 release, and ver2 i can tell has a few more enhancements/bugs fixed. Cheers ~
  8. This may or may not be shot-down, but there are pros, cons to it just like any other idea. From eset.com you can link to the forums. However there are plenty opportunities or reasons for consumers who have never heard of ESET to stumble upon the forums prior to main site visitation. Possibly in the header another img file with link to page. Or maybe the eset bot in top right corner click-able baha For me it would be easier then having to type url, go to favorites, or even goog search to get to main. Just a suggestion, that would no doubt take little effort to install. Thanks
  9. Are you sure that windows defender is turned off ? , If you go to control panel and select windows defender, it should pop up and say its turned off. I manually turned off windows defender in win7 x64 and never have the issue you describe. The only thing that was off was real time protection. I assume it was still On by "Use this program". Just my opinion, but i feel upon installation of other AV programs, this should be switched to off completely to avoid these kinds of things. Leaving it up to the user will not work successfully to normal consumers who have little to no experience with computers, their question would be "What is windows defender ?". Thanks 4L3X , will check and see if the problem resolves itself in the coming days ... Maybe eset can compensate with a condition statement after install or on first load to turn off or disable Windows Defender to prevent the following bug i posted. Thanks
  10. Pictures are lost how ? Encrypted and cant open ? or Deleted ?
  11. Found a possible bug that may or may not be fixable Please pass along to the devs... This happens every time i login to my user account. It goes away when i click on "Run System Update" The update that is labeled is "Windows Defender Definitions" I have the following assumption. Since Windows defender is disabled by default upon installing Eset Nod32 AV, which essentially takes over and monitors the system; the bug may be due to this very instance. It could also be a Windows flaw as windows update should not be looking for windows defender updates since Eset is monitoring security. I also thought that it may be due to the fact i have many hidden updates like stupid Bing desktop and so forth, until i saw Windows defender. Whatever it may be. . . . Good luck ! hope i helped
  12. Google Chrome security flaw offers unrestricted password access _hxxp://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/aug/07/google-chrome-password-security-flaw
  13. @Loke Sorry for the late response... All the folders and registry keys I provided are not created until after office install. Hence the path not found errors. I was suggesting creating said rules after install, then uninstall and install to test only. I wonder if the devs can remove the check on folder/file location exists so future directories can be added. I see a several wmi queries in the install to. Maybe you can try a rule on that service also. It sounds like this may be something only the company can address
  14. Driver conflict for sure. No bsods here. Ram ok ? Hd ok ? Tests run? Good luck lucky
  15. Jad This topic intrigues me and I would like to investigate in my spare time as I'm somewhat snazzy on cleanup myself. Would you be kind enough to PM me some links/posts/etc about this that you have found as I start my own digging. My first thought is why doesn't imaging help with this ? System restore? Or was that option for photographer unavailable. Thanks Jad
  16. Ugly. My issue was fixed on ver 1 with a google update as stated... I'm on Verizon. What is your provider and model of phone. You may still be lacking updates specific to phone or service.v I'm loving ver 2. Its the kill.
  17. Gaming mode auto starts when a full screen app takes over.... That being said. This would be a type of bug as OOBE is a full screen service or exe I think. You can disable that option on eset for now and maybe they can have a look at it. Marcos or Dan can you confirm this with the developers please?
  18. Tomo, Interesting but funny topic. It is also vulnerable to broad culprits. I personally think it is a mix between irq, hardware speed response and the programming code behind the action. If you have ever done development or created a gui type app, the code behind it is read faster then we can blink. Sometimes the code may be read and completed before the hardware has a chance to respond. Thus we use timers halts and sleep methods to allow the machine to "catch up". It could be mouse issues, wireless interference if wireless. Usb throughput. Microsoft has suggested disabling themes. It could be anything but I know "we all experience it". Good topic & off the wall! Kudos
  19. Its all been fixed for me. I'm assuming Tuesday Google had some form of update I can tell by my other apps.
  20. Try this and see if you have better results with installation : *Assumes C:\ is drive letter of OS From Eset Main Gui -Setup, Enter Advanced Setup -Computer Tree, Hips Selected -Rule Editor, Configure Rules -Click New , Name=(Outlook test) , Action=Allow -Other Settings (rule activated checked) -Tabs : -Source application, Click Add and enter The main File or MSI for Outlook 2013 [find your outlook shortcut if you have one and right click then choose Open File location] or Within Outlook setup folders.... choose setup.exe -Target Files (check below use for all operations) - Add button on right , then select folder. Type in ....... "C:\MSOCache\All Users" & "C:\Microsoft Office 15\" & "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\" & "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" & "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office 15\" [or minusx86 for 64bit ver] & finally just incase its msi not one-click "%CommonProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Shared" -Target Applications (check below use for all operations - Add button on right, then select folder. Type in "C:\MSOCache\All Users" & "C:\Microsoft Office 15" & "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\" & "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office 15\" [or minusx86 for 64bit ver] -Target Registry (check use for all operations),Click Add and enter,Click Run Regedit Enter "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0" & "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0" If you still have an abundance of warnings/pop ups, i would chalk it up to beta changes and hips being more sensitive to system changes, therefore Interactive might not be your favor as ESET is throwing prompts on more system data then ver6 There are certainly more reg keys, especially uninstaller sections etc, but for now. Try those and see if the install has less prompts, or still bothers you ? Let me know if you can give that a try and see how the install goes ??? It could be just a waiting game for beta 7 to get thoroughly checked for bugs and released to public. Talk soon, i will check back. PS. this isnt a fix, just hopefully a way to tell whats going on and maybe help devs if there is an issue from ver6. Other reg keys to add to exclude just incase: 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Delivery\SourceEngine\Downloads\*0FF1CE}-* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\*0FF1CE* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Upgrade Codes\*F01FEC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\*F01FEC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ose HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Win32Assemblies\*Office15* 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Delivery\SourceEngine\Downloads\*0FF1CE}-* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\*0FF1CE* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ose HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes\*F01FEC HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Win32Asemblies\*Office15*
  21. Reporting... MBam pro + Nod32 AV 6 & 7 beta + Threatfire + MBam anti-exploit + [super AS--no real-time only scanner loaded] All run together with 0 issues for me at all, no lock ups, or conflicts / false alarms / crashes of programs. I stay malware clean 100% aside from tracking cookies.
  22. This is a perfect example why ESET has provided and protected, all while having a confident, and helpful persona for the entire anti-malware industry. No other company provides this kind of help and direction. Yes i have found a few sites, not many of which are AV companies that i saw, and most had adds or seemed untrustworthy, some listing ESET's page at the top. Heh These tools should be run almost every time if you see a clients computer that has other junk for anti-virus and you intend on replacing. If you stick to Add/Remove programs / Programs and Features , windows installer will almost always leave behind directories, temp files, user data, quarantined objects, registry settings and more ! Some paths to uninstallers have wizards that do clean well, but not all the time. hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146 If you are replacing your security on your own; or you are a tech servicing a machine. Perform good cleanups, or risk registry errors and vulnerability holes down the road. hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146
  23. Have you tried with the default firmware and ver7 ? Your using a modified firmware of course, but you say ver6 is fine ? Reflash and try again ? Another note, IE and Chrome both contain a larger group of embedded features then some other browsers? Can you try with Firefox, Opera, and maybe Safari and see if it still happens on those as well, maybe off and on with eset also ? Do you have a straight connection to your router ? Or wireless ? A switch in middle ? Http or https protocol to connect ?
  24. Aryeh, i would really like the option of right click check for updates from systray icon also. Despite the check on login, and every 60min that it does. It may be redundant, but it is on par with other software and its becoming a update software etiquette type user action. I perform it on 4 other software, then if i want to double check on eset i have to load entire gui. From a programming perspective this is a very easy addition. Pleeeaaaseee ask dev team. Thx lol
  25. I believe you have the link for 64bit compatible with win764bit. Yes I have the same installer on my machine, with difference mine is the 7beta nod32av 64bit for win 7 64bit. Hi and Welcome Folsom !
