Rocky-based Linux VA: recommended way to do operating system update?

On our freshly installed VA we did not select to update the OS during the web wizard process.

In general, how should we go about updating the OS? Via dnf commands (bit scary considering issues we had had with the ODBC drivers) or via the OS update task from with the Protect console?
