StotheR 0
Hello everyone, today my ESET Endpoint Antivirus with version 10.0.2034.0 detected a potentially unwanted application with following message: Quote \\Uefi Partition = UEFI = uefi:\\Volume 9\Firmware Volume Image {1303221F-4197-B792-2466-F49E45233681}\Volume 1\efiinstnats - eine Variante von EFI/CompuTrace.A potenziell unsichere Anwendung - Säubern nicht möglich CompuTrace seems to be some kind of protection again theft, that could not be turned off in a way ESET never detects it again. Google leads me to a ESET KB article https://support.eset.com/en/kb6567-you-receive-an-eset-uefi-detection to create a detection exclusion. But how do I know, whether that message is really unproblematc? Couldn't it be real malware? Edited February 13 by StotheR
Administrators Marcos 4,935 Posted February 13 Administrators Share Posted February 13 It's not malware but PUA detection (https://support.eset.com/en/kb2629). Since flashing the UEFI firmware would likely not remove the application, the only thing you can do is silence the detection by creating a detection exclusion as per the KB you cited.
