ESET PROTECT 8.0 -> 8.1 update fail

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I am running ESET PROTECT on a virtualized Windows Server 2012 R2 on VMware ESXI. I used to update ESET PROTECT through the webconsole: Help > Update Product > Update. For some reason it does not work this time. The task for the server is created, it is being executed and after that it shows that it was succesfull. Server remains not updated, it still runs ESET PROTECT 8.0 and the option to update it is being displayed. Any ideas how to solve it?

ESET:
ESET PROTECT (Server), Version 8.0 (8.0.1258.0)
ESET PROTECT (Web Console), Version 8.0 (8.0.191.0)

VMware ESXI:
Client version: 1.33.4
Client build number: 14093553
ESXi version: 6.7.0
ESXi build number: 15160138

You can send an ESET PROTECT component update task to the server or select "Update installed ESET products" after clicking "Server" on the dashboard.

For some reason I can't - that widged does not show any server installation.

I added another widget that does show my server instalation, but when I click on it and choose "Update installed EESET products..." it says "No ESET products that can be updated automatically have been found".

Do you have ESET Management agent installed on the server and is it reporting to the ESET PROTECT server?

I would recommend to enable full verbosity trace logging on AGENT installed side-by-side your EP Server and re-run upgrade task (components upgrade task created via help as you mentioned). Before that, I would possibly recommend to check configuration of this task, whether it actually references EP 8.1. We could possibly analyze once log is attached or ESET support is contacted.

Also note, that EP Server and also Management Agent installed on the same device as EP server is excluded from one-click updates as available via dashboards - this is due to possible negative impact on infrastructure -> EP server and it's management server is supposed to be upgrade either via in-product upgrade, or manually using various EP installer types
