This thread interest me because have similar problems:

/opt/eset/esets/sbin/esets_daemon --version
/opt/eset/esets/sbin/esets_daemon (esets) 4.5.16

Deleting all files indicated by @Peter Randziak, downloads file but the first time says:

/opt/eset/esets/sbin/esets_update  --verbose
Virus signature database has been updated successfully.
error[83680000]: Cannot get information about Antivirus modules: Module init

The next one:
/opt/eset/esets/sbin/esets_update  --verbose
General compiler error.

Hello @angeloxx,

I checked it with our Linux support specialist and it seems that the esets service was not stopped.

He advised to:

  • stop the esets service
  • delete contents of /var/opt/eset/esets/lib/
  • start update esets_update --verbose
  • start esets service

Please share the results with us.

Peter

Hi Peter, thank you for your feedback. Services are stopped, but I've tried again:

systemctl stop esets
rm -rf /var/opt/eset/esets/lib/*
/opt/eset/esets/sbin/esets_update --verbose
Virus signature database has been updated successfully.
error[88aa0000]: Cannot get information about Antivirus modules: Module init
[...]
 /opt/eset/esets/sbin/esets_update --verbose
Virus signature database has been updated successfully.
error[89170000]: Cannot get information about Antivirus modules: Module init
[...]
/opt/eset/esets/sbin/esets_update --verbose
General compiler error.

Solved. The updater use extensively the /tmp filesystem and this update probably uses more space; the updater fails (with the reported errors) but the underneath error is that /tmp run out of space. Probabily a message about the space will help.

Thank you.

Angelo
