luke 0
Hi, I keep getting this message after leaving my computer idle for a few minutes: "Windows Defender and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.2 are both turned off." BOTH Windows Defender and NOD32 are turned on! They are both up to date and functioning. Is this actually a problem, is something trying to disable my antivirus? The message will keep appearing and refreshing every second or so, and then it goes away again when i start using my computer. if nothing else, it's quite distracting when i'm trying to do something on my other computer and this message keeps popping up on this computer ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.2.76.0 Windows 8.1 (64-bit) Thanks, Luke
Administrators Solution Marcos 4,693 Posted March 19, 2014 Administrators Solution Share Posted March 19, 2014 Is there any reason why you have an old v4.2 installed on Windows 8.1? The latest version available for home users is 7.0.302.
Arakasi 549
Hi Luke, That message is not Windows Defender, nor ESET, but the Windows Security Center Service having an issue. Here are my suggestions: Download and run Farbar Check the Security Center / Action Center service, run a scan, and review the logs. Post them here if you are unsure on the output log. Download and Install the latest version of ESET which in your case would be Nod32 version 7 32-bit 64-bit Edited March 19, 2014 by Arakasi
luke 0
Hi Marcos, Arakasi, Thank you both for your quick responses! I have updated NOD32 Antivirus to the latest version and this appears to have fixed the issue. Thanks again, Luke
