cstavrou 0
Hello all, We are trying to upgrade from ERA to ESMC. ERA is running on a Windows 2008 R2 (6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002) machine without any issues so far. Following the instructions found here we created a backup of the database, however we can't proceed with the installation of the new remote management version. In the setup wizard (Server_x64.msi) we are getting the following error message: Eset security management center server is only supported on windows 7, windows server 2008 r2, or higher. Are we doing something wrong? Isn't our OS supported? From what I can tell the OS is Windows Server 2008 R2. We also tried to install the new version using the ERA Web Console without any success. Can someone help us with this issue? Thank you, Charalambos Currently installed: ESET Remote Administrator (Server), Version 6.5 (6.5.522.0) ESET Remote Administrator (Web Console), Version 6.5 (6.5.388.0) Edited September 13, 2018 by cstavrou Added ERA versions
VlP 0
Hi. It is not 2008 R2 server, only 2008 without R2...

We might then proceed with installing the new ESMC to a Windows Server 2016 then. ERA at the moment manages around 40 pcs/servers. If we restore the backup we took from ERA to the newly installed ESMC will work? Thank you

Thank you I am not sure DB migration and upgrade will work in one step, but it is definitely possible to relocate your current ERA to another server. Seems that most suitable scenario in your enrinment will be moving with the same ip address or at least the same hostname, as described in documentation. cstavrou 0
Keeping the same IP address might be a little difficult. From the same help page we find this: Migrated Database - different IP address Shouldn't this work as well? If not, making a clean install might be our best option. ESET Staff MartinK 384 Posted September 17, 2018 ESET Staff Share Posted September 17, 2018 It depends on your configuration. In this case, different IP means that AGENTs has to be configured to use new IP address prior to migration. In case you are using hostnames in AGENTs configuration (hostname of ESMC/ERA where they are connecting), it should be even simpler and AGENTs will start to connect to correct ERA/ESMC after DNS entries are updated. cstavrou 0
Ok. Thank you very much for your time! We will check how Agents have been setup and we will choose the right upgrade process. Until now, we could easily request all the PCs to upgrade to the latest version of Endpoint Security. However, as of version 7 of Endpoint Security we can't use ERA to upgrade to the latest version of Endpoint Security. We tried with a couple of PCs but the task doesn't seems to go through. We even manually update a PC to v7 of Endpoint Security (and agent) but it still shows that it's not updated (v6). Is this normal? We must upgrade to ESMC in order for these issues to be resolved? Thank you again.
