User ID and Password

Hello,

I just bought today a 3 year license for 1 PC, activated, installed, all is ok.

Problem is... after purchasing i got a confirmation email, asking me to activate my license by following this link https://www.eset.com/int/support/activate/, which i did succesfully. But i forgot to copy the User ID and Password.

How can i retrieve those, are they needed ?

Done. Now i'll have to wait and see i guess.

EDIT: ok... i received the email, but it contains only the license key which i already have

I'm talking about the User ID and the password, which are displayed in the ESET browser activation window. Unfortunately i closed it because i thought the information there will be emailed to me.

All this info should be contained within the e-mail Eset sent after activation. The e-mail contains:

"Subject: Important Eset xxxxxxxxxx license information"

That's what i thought (that's why i closed the browser window), but somehow it doesn't.

It contains only the license key which i already have. Weird.

Check your e-mail spam folder. It might have ended up in there.

What are the username and password for anyway ?

See https://support.eset.com/kb373/

The ESET Knowledgebase has much information. I'd add it into your favorites as it comes in handy.  https://support.eset.com/

Thank you.

I already knew that older versions required a username and password, while newer versions require a license key.

But what is the purpose of a username and password in the new versions ?

You don't need any username/password to download, update or activate ESET. Simply use the license key for activation.

The username and password displayed in the browser window after activation of the license has nothing to do with my.eset.com

You can create a FREE account on my.eset.com without purchasing a license.

Yes, already did that.

Still no answer as to what are the username and password for. Bummer.

They are for updating v8 which is still in the phase of basic support and will reach its EOL at the end of this year.

Aaa ok. So i shouldn't worry about it. I thought it was a security thing or something like that in case something's wrong with the license/identify me as the owner of the license.
