Kudos

I also experienced this issue first in December and only on Server 2019 systems (mix of virtual and physical servers) and again now in January, although it appears to have spread to 2016 servers as well. Server 2022 doesn't appear to be affected so far.
As with others, it's a timeout on ekrn during the reboot following application of the monthly updates. Either manually starting the "ESET Service" or a second reboot will re-enable functionality.
I would also add that I think it's rather disingenuous to simply point at Microsoft and wipe your hands of the issue. Even if it is something Microsoft did to cause it, at the very least, you should be working with them to figure out why and what can be done to resolve this, whether it's on their end or yours. All it takes is one moment of inattention on a customer's part and there's a public-facing server with no protection for who knows how long until the problem is noticed. I personally feel like if you have no intention of taking this matter up with them and getting it resolved, I'm going to soon be forced to find another vendor. This is too big an issue to just shrug your shoulders and live with indefinitely.

Thank you for trying it out and sharing the positive results with us.

The release to standard update channel is expected on next Monday (February 21), if everything goes well..

While I can't switch my entire environment to the pre-release, I did change my test machines and it resolved the issue.  How long will it be the pre-release before going to the main channel?

I understand keeping ESET products up-to-date is very important, but why not leave it up to the customers who pay for your products to decide when to update their devices?  I always keep my products patched, but I decide when to apply them and schedule reboots.  I don't like it that you apply the updates without admin approval and when I login to ESET PROTECT, I find red alerts all of my devices.  What if you push out an update and two hours later, you find it causes a major problem?  You also said that you have an opt out policy, but I don't think you do.  If you did, you would allow customers to permanently disable auto updates and manage them on their own.  If some customers want to keep your auto update policy enabled, that's fine, but you should allow customers the choice to do enable it or keep it disabled without having to worry about it re-enabling.

Yes, I can confirm this behavior on at least macOS Big Sur devices. I opened a ticket with support and was essentially told that ESET support for Big Sur is not fully available even though their public facing support page says it is fully supported minus the firewall and device control.  I was told full support is coming in March with a new version that I hope fixes this.  It is rather annoying to have to uninstall ESET to install critical OS patches.

I already have, and they pretty much gave me the option of hiding the GUI entirely or upgrading.  I just hope the feedback received makes the decision makers behind these decisions re-think this next time.
