I like nod32 a lot but you guys every once in awhile sh1t it so hard, that is frustrating and then just say "we can't do anything", when its literally on your side the issue.

You literally had something that was working, broke it, and are like "oh we don't care about it, just use something else". I just hope I won't have to take the same action I had to do before and move away from nod32 again, hopefully there will be a fix for this issue in the couple next days, if not oh well time to look for a new AV again...

    Thanks anyway.

As said just exclude utorrent and it should be fine

    Translation

hello forum, I would like to know why when I go on the radar virus to see the updates I can not see the names of the signatures thank you for your answer

Hi please note this is an English speaking forum. I think a previous person asked this and @Marcos or another mod stated this is no longer possible although I could be wrong

I don't know how the rollback works but before going pre-release I had a drop down that would let me choose 12hours, 24 hours, etc and that would be enough to re-roll the update of these 2 modules if that is what the rollback would have done, thus temporally fixing my current issue, since it started happening only after I've received that update.

    Regular modules:

    Detection Engine: 20266 (20191030)
    Rapid Response module: 15157 (20191030)

    Pre-release modules:

    Detection Engine: 20269P (20191030)
    Rapid Response module: 15160P (20191030)

Still causing the issue in both modes, would help if I could go back 24 hours with the modules.

Only thing i can suggest is opening a support ticket via email

We do not reveal exact information why an application is classified as PUA for legal reasons. We disclose that only in the course of legal disputes with particular PUA vendors. As for users, we provide them with a general information about what PUAs are. They are in no way threats so the user can be sure that allowing a PUA will not cause any harm. A PUA may install a toolbar, give excessive false warnings about issues (e.g. in case of system cleaners), etc.

Thanks for the reply I did wonder if there where legal issues. Isn't there also a organisation that kind of deals with similar software with a list of programs and a criteria?

    Hi Marcos,

I understand this and i do when possible. In this case, the notification started after the update. So user side, the question is whether Augur is now seeing things previous versions of ESET didn't see or whether that PUA is simply just another of those vaguely potential threats. As i said in my previous replies to other users, this creates a grey zone where the user does not know what to do. I removed uTorrent and did not install BitTorrent (also because ESET seemed to stop some part of the process, which is, again something i do not like). What ESET is missing in my opinion is a clear identification of threats as far as PUAs are concerned. Something either is a threat or it isn't. The other issue is how the window showing them is represented. Once again, the pop up window does not allow for a full visual of the threat and the path where it is located (you can't enlarge the window). Yet, ESET asks you which course of action you want to take. It is not a nice experience.

The problem is most PUAs are not technically threats at least in the traditional way. For example most PUAs are probably programs that try to get you to install extra stuff e.g. come with ask toolbar and other unwanted stuff so if anything they are adware. Most people probably just want their AV to detect viruses thus why some include PUAs but make it an optional setting for the user to decide. Most general users probably disable it but not fully sure on that.

As you mentioned one solution could be for eset to implent something that can give you a reason to why it is a pup but then again it would still be down to the user to look at that and decide if the reasons are okay enough for the user to decide @Marcos not sure if this would be possible or even a link to the reason?

I have been using  Bitdefender for a long time now and now I am planning to switch to Eset, as Bitdefender is making my pc so slow that it's annoying. I researched quite a lot lately about it and I found out that according to AV independent lab test scores, Bitdefender is a bit better in terms of malware protection and system impact than Eset. But it seems Bitdefender still puts some impact on system. Please, let me know what are your thoughts on it. And is it a good idea to run both at the same time?

I used to use Bitdefender years ago and often was a beta tester. I was put off when I reported a bug that blocked the internet and it wasn't fixed in the stable release so lots of users experienced it. They kept asking for logs and then just wanted more logs and it didn't seem like it was going to be fixed. I'd seen it crash a lot on non beta versions to. I think when you have a bad experience it puts you off and I've never been back.

Probably a lot better but I haven't looked back as eset is lightweight and rarely has issues. I found at one point Bitdefender changed its look a few times each version although it looks like they have settled on one now. Some like this but sometimes it can cause issues if the changes hide/move settings. Eset has a simple easy to use interface and while it has little tweaks it doesn't change too much so it's always easy to use.

As Marco's has said why not download a trial and see what you think. Just make sure you uninstall Bitdefender to make sure there are no conflicts.

As for test results I find they never really account for real usage. For example the average user wouldn't and shouldn't download 100s of malware all at once. Tests can also be done to favour specific AVs. It all comes down to personal preference really.

Hi, well I must say NO, total silence. In the mean time, I have changed my firewall, and the problem has disappeared, further I have changed my anti virus software on one of the apple and the new one detected immediately a trojan that was missed by Cybersecurity Pro. I am using reset since I don't know how many years, 20 odd years even when they were windows only. I still have my sub paid until the end of 20 but I am disappointed and will not renewed. Seems the service and efficiency went down the drain

Best advice is to email support as there is a better chance of tickets being replied to

Since the new android update the optimization for the wifi is not working properly.

It keeps telling me I am on an unsecured network when it is my home wifi that I have know since I got the phone, it happens on any network you connect to regardless if u have know it before or not.

    any help or suggestions??

Sounds like the same problem as on here

Make sure you have location permissions enabled for eset and it is set to always. You may need to disconnect from the wifi and then reconnect when this is done for it to change.

Also the user has stated a new bug has appeared and now when leaving and then returning home the warning comes on and they have to disconnect and reconnect again

Now it is doing the same with my attempt to download and install Bit-Torrent

    Bit torrent.png

Yeah that is normal as it's a potential unwanted Application. These programs are not viruses but there may be a risk using them. These programs may come with extra unwanted stuff and may have bad business practises e.g. pester users, capture information they shouldn't, dubious marketing etc.

You can disable detection of these. When enabled it is down to the user to decide if they want to use the program. You can exclude it in the options if not. Googling software you will probably have people talking about the reasons AVs have marked it as PUAs and then you can decide yourself

the licence key cant be shared for privacy issues. Can you share details or reasons as to why the licence which was working fine previously on v12 is now getting cancelled when i made a mistale of updating it to v13. while the same licence (valid for 3 devices) is working fine when i installed it on other laptop ???

can you share the solution ? it may be related to any changes in memory of laptop,(command prompt or registery or hosts or any such thing). There are always some other way around techniques to bypass the errors

The public license isn't the same as your main one and can be shared. You can also drop a private message to a mod e.g Marcos if you are still unsure or create a support ticket. Response may be slower right now due to it being the weekend

    Hi there,

After the update i am receiving hundreds of PUA notifications (one every 6 or 7 seconds) for the same apps. All of them with "AugurML" and in particular associated to IOBIT products and utorrent.

Is there any way to stop this? It is driving me mad. The more i click ignore, the more it pops up again.

If you click ignore or advanced is there an option to ignore for good.  There have been a few users bringing up utorrent alerts

Trusted sites are excluded from SSL filtering by default. You can have them filtered and scanned by disabling the appropriate setting:

    image.png

Is there any risk of this being used wrongly - e.g. if a trusted domain is hijacked I presume eset would still detect malware etc. Just asking as its something I was just curious about

After installing latest version of Eset Internet Security, I have problem running uTorrent desktop application.

At first run I got attached error message, all later app startups are really slow ( 30+ seconds). If I pause protection, uTorrent starts normally.

Please give me instruction what data you need to help you troubleshoot this problem.

    Regards.

I do know eset detects utorrent as a potentional unwanted program so you may need to add it to exceptions but normally it would pop up and ask

Tip: When it comes to freeware, always opt for the "portable" version. As such, no software installation is performed.

If the freeware does not offer a "portable" version in the form of a zipped download, consider that "a big red flag" that something is suspicious about the software.

Note that LightShot is not offered in a portable version. Now the following I find hilarious. There is a web site that supposedly offers a portable version of LightShot here: https://karanpc.com/lightshot-free-download/ . When you select the DirectLink download, you are greeted with the below screenshot. If you proceed further, you are indeed a fool.

And the scary thing is people will whitelist it

Everything on my monitor is red and black, no matter what site I'm on. There are no other colors. I'm a 79 year old woman who depends on my internet on my desktop for all my communications (well, except for my phone, which is unfortuantely also connected to the web), radio, news,  movies, etc. Just one screen shot would not make a differenece. Everything has a blood red background with black print and images.

Googling it shows it could be the lead is lose or possibly a problem with the monitor itself. Is there anything that has made you suspect eset?

A screenshot would help. However if it is the monitor a screenshot may not show the issue and you may have to take a screenshot with something such as a camera phone.

Does taking a screenshot with the printscreen keyboard button show the issue? If not it might mean it is monitor related
