  1. I would assume they are counting the number of files, but not all files are the same size. A 500 GB archive would take longer to unpack and scan than a 1 kb text file. I'd rather it works like it does than for them to dumb it down like some vendors that just have a bar that scrolls by repeatedly and gives no real indication of progress.
  2. I tried to search and could not find anything on the subject, so here goes. I know some AV products are faster after running an initial scan because it does not scan those files again (in most cases) unless they have changed. Does ESS 6 have this kind of feature? Just wondering if there are any performance related reasons to run a full scan on a known clean system. Thanks.
  3. Thanks for the replies. It's probably more realistic testing to run it on a real machine and I would backup first, but I am still undecided on whether to try. Seems fine in VMWare. I've had final versions of security suites destroy my Windows installation so anything comes with some risk.
  4. First, I see this on just about every download site on the net. Is it reasonablly safe to install on my daily machine, or should I keep it to a virtual machine? Also, if so, can I assume I can activate it with my regular license?
  5. Really, that is interesting. For me on win8 x64. Their is no "eye" icon in system tray. Its the "e" icon logo. Same here. Good to see the icon is one of the biggest complaints. Hopefully testing will go well. Actually after looking at them together myself, I think I prefer the new icon. The eye from the 2.x versions was cool but the more recent ones don't do much for me.
