  1. I installed v14 on my desktop last night to test it out. No issues so far. There actually does not seem to be anything noticeably different about it. I'm not complaining, but it would be nice if there was a more visual indicator of what version is currently installed without having to dig for it.
  2. I don't understand why this is even a conversation. The Kaspersky UI has changed very little since 2012 and I would take the ESET UI over it any day. That said it wouldn't hurt my feeling if they added a little more color to it but it is perfectly functional as is. I remember when all vendors used to replace the UI every year and it took another half year to work out the bugs.
  3. I'm not sure where to go with this at the moment. While I was waiting for a response I did some other testing. I ran an internet speed test. It wouldn't even run on Firefox and on Chrome I got about 400 Mbps down and 40 Mbps up. If I disabled protocol scanning I got 845 Mbps down and 785 Mbps up (gigabit fiber) on any browser. I uninstalled EIS to do some testing. The file transfer it still slow despite the fact that it is using Windows Defender now, even if I disable it. When I had EIS last week but disabled it I was getting over 100 Mbps transfer rates. The file server the file is being copied from is just a NAS and it reliably copies at 100+ Mbps to other PCs. I guess I'll do some more tests and if I can figure out anything useful I will post back.
  4. Gonna have to wait until next week. I'm off for the weekend and this is a work server.
  5. Yes, the issue disappears entirely if I disable real-time protection. This exact file is one I copied (it's NVIDIA, the link should be clean). https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/456.38/456.38-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe
  6. As I copied a graphics driver from a file server on the local network to my laptop it got my attention that I was able to copy to the file server at 100 Mbps from my desktop (Windows Defender) but when I copied it from the server to my laptop (EIS 13.2.18.0) It copied at 5 Mbps. When I disable protection on EIS it also then copied at 100 Mbps. Why the 95% loss of transfer rate? This happens both on the wireless and the gigabit wired connections. Windows 10, 64 bit, new laptop.
  7. I don't know if it makes a difference but out of curiosity, what kind of encryption are you using with your IMAP connection? None, SSL, TLS, Auto? I haven't seen it mentioned yet. Might be worth exploring. I have mine set to auto and I have no issues.
  8. I don't seem to be having the issue with v12 so far. I did have it a lot with v10. In any case, I don't want to seem like I'm badmouthing the product. Just suggesting why tests may have ranked it as they did. It's far better than waiting for Windows Defender to do what it does.
  9. It depends on what part of it you are testing. In general usage the performance if pretty good. There are situations where it could be faster, and maybe these tests weigh those things too heavily. Often when I open a folder if there are a lot of files the PC is unresponsive for a few seconds. I am assuming it is scanning the files. But I'm into my second day of testing v12. So far I haven't noticed it. I liked it enough to buy a license. It looks like a lot of people are complaining about the lack of new features. I'm good with that if the time is spent making the fastest, most stable product possible instead of following trends for the sake of doing so.
  10. You can download addons as a file, but it is easiest to do it from another browser. Then you can try to drop it into Firefox.
  11. For any development or testing we do Virtual Machines are used. I highly recommend one for such things if you have the disk space and RAM to do it. Then you don't have to deal with these issues anymore. Take a VM snapshot, do your test, roll back to the snapshot, nothing broken in any way, and you're still left with a clean test environment.
  12. I installed ESS 10.0.369.0 and had trouble with Internet Explorer freezing. As I had made no other changes I suspected it was ESS. I disabled it and it made no difference. I uninstalled it and things started to work again. I haven't seen any other complaints of this issue so I installed it in a virtual machine to see if it was repeatable and Internet Explorer will not load any websites at all. Edge works fine. Maybe this hasn't been encountered because nobody is using IE anymore. I don't use it as my primary browser but I always test to see if there are issues. Is anyone else seeing this issue?
  13. Thanks puff-m-d, I saw those after I made my post else I probably wouldn't have bothered. I also see I can download the English version of Internet Security (the original page I found the links on did not have it) so I could just run with that and not worry about it. I don't have a particular need for the anti-theft so as far as I'm concerned I am not worried about it at this point though there may still be others that wanted the Smart Security. It looks like the questions are still valid for them, but I'm going to call it good enough.
  14. My question is... when my Smart Security license expires in 29 days, if I choose to renew it, what will me options be? Are they going to retire the regular Smart Security? I don't really want the extra features of the "Premium" version. I really don't need the anti-theft. But what I would not want to have to do is uninstall the Smart Security and reinstall something else and reconfigure it because my license expired. Too much hassle. What is the ongoing plan for those customers?
  15. This thread: https://forum.eset.com/topic/9480-eset-internet-security-10/ states that it will be release in "most" countries in a "couple" of weeks. As that was 3 1/2 weeks ago "most" and "couple" must be open to interpretation. They won't post a date in advance, so you'll see it when it happens.
  16. The uninstaller tool definitely would not help you at this point... A system restore or image backup would work. If there is no going back, going forward you will need to reinstall your network adapter. Find a copy of the driver. You will probably have to get it from another machine and use a flash drive or something to get it to the computer with the non working WiFi. Then reinstall the device and hope for the best.
  17. Not entirely but seems that way sometimes. I could be wrong and can't test because I don't have WoW, but maybe you could try creating an exception with a wildcard, such as excluding "c:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\*\Battle.net.exe". That is what I would try unless someone else posts a better suggestion. I have used wildcards before, I'm wanting to think it should work.
  18. Just found this on a google search looking for Task Manager blinking. It also blinks the right click menus in Windows. I hope the fix it, or at least change the screen when you close the UI so it does not persist. Currently running ESS 9.0.402.0.
  19. I am running the latest Windows 10 64 bit, Outlook 2013 32 bit, and ESS v9 and. I am not having this problem. Questions that may be useful for someone to duplicate the issue or help... How many email accounts? POP3, IMAP, or both? Any 3rd party Outlook plugins? Any other security software?
  20. The beta program will end on the release of v10 and will not start again until the beta release of v11 which won't be until next year. There is not a continuous beta program.
  21. What if the rule is problematic and was you reason you uninstalled said application? I know of at least 1 other vendor that removes rules for applications that have been removed for 30 days.
  22. Seeing this post I decided to try it also. Seems to be running fine. I couldn't take Windows Defender anymore. It kept lagging my machine while it was scanning files. This is much better.
  23. That has been my experience. Windows 10 will never show you some of the updates, even it ESET does.
  24. That stinks. I did 2 installs. On my laptop I did an upgrade from the 106 build. All was fine. On my desktop I did a clean install to see how it would go. It ran really slow and acted strangely until I rebooted, then it was fine. If I had your experience I would uninstall, start with the 106 build (based on the experience I had) and try again. Sounds like something was corrupted during the upgrade. Once I got both machines rebooted and did the initial scan, it runs very well on both.
