  1. I figured I should also note that when I tried to install the downloaded file on my desktop (10.0.169.0) without upgrading it prompted me for activation instead of giving a beta license. As I have a valid license for ESS, it worked so I am ok with that. Just something you may encounter if you want to clean install it.
  2. I am running the Internet Security and the downloaded file was named NUPC106.msi. Don't know if it will be the same for everyone.
  3. The solution for this... Launch the GUI as admin, and the update will run fine. I figured it was a permission issue.
  4. The lack of a response is causing me to lose interest rapidly. Even a "Yes, it's broken, we're looking into it" might stop me from moving on to something else. There are other products in beta...
  5. I posted to the main beta topic about the same thing. I assume this is caused by the same problem I have been having randomly for years with ESET products. It can't stop its own service to install the upgrade, so it sits the indefinitely waiting for it to stop and it never does. I gave up and just uninstalled EIS altogether. If they can post an already updated installer I may help test it if I don't give up first and install something else.
  6. I'm being notified by the application that 10.0.169.0 is available. It downloads, but never updates. It's been sitting for an hour, making no progress.
  7. I'm sure they know what they're doing. We don't. In any case I am happier with the v10 beta of Internet Security than I am with the release of Smart Security v9. I don't care what they're doing because the beta test license expires about the same time as my subscription and since it's a beta when it goes final I'll have to uninstall the beta to move forward anyway.
  8. I'm sure it is the same issue and it has persisted since they released 9 with the hew UI. Not all of the time, but more often than it actually has the correct info. The public beta of v10 Internet Security does the same thing. Not sure if or when they are going to fix it, but as a cosmetic issue (mostly) I'm sure it has a very low priority. Unfortunately.
  9. Windows was set for private network. I did not change anything in the EIS settings so those were whatever the defaults were.
  10. I don't know that this question merited its own topic so I'll ask here... I was reviewing the list of "Installed components" and found that ESS 9 has a module named "Real-time file system protection module" and EIS 10 does not list it. Is it missing from the list, no longer needed, or lacking in functionality vs ESS 9?
  11. This is nothing to do with anti-theft. Usually when you uninstall it clears your license and you get the same machine name next time. One time I uninstalled and it failed, leaving me to have to run the ESET uninstall tool in safe mode. Since the uninstall didn't run, the next activation appended a 1 to the machine name. So though I only have 2 machines I am betting my 3 licenses are shown on the activation server as in use. I was able to remove it from the anti-theft site but there doesn't appear to be a way to mange the license. I had posted a thread about it as well, but I don't expect you're going to get any more of a response here than I did. I expect that when it becomes an issue, I will have to contact their support directly, and likely so will you.
  12. Possibly... I may give that a try but if it stops me from accessing network shares it may be a deal breaker.
  13. I was running EIS 10 for a few days and was really enjoying it, but when I took my laptop to work I got constantly bombarded with popups that a new machine had joined the network. At home yes, this is an excellent feature. At work with multiple people with various schedules and software developers running VMs that they are constantly booting and shutting down for testing purposes, this gets annoying fast. I looked for a way to disable the messages but did not see one. I have since reverted to my licensed copy of ESS9 and maybe that is best anyway, but I would like to know if there is a setting to disable the notification for that. If not, I would like to suggest adding it. What I would really like to see... add the option to disable it per network, so I can have it on at home and off at work. I fully expect that someone will post that it is called "Home" Network Protection for a reason, but it is my personal laptop and I am not looking for a business solution for it, maybe.
  14. When I installed the beta 10 of EIS on my laptop it activated with a beta license. When I installed it on my desktop, it failed to activate. I was able to activate it with my retail key, so not a big deal, I guess. Just reporting it, don't know how much it matters.
  15. Based on the incredible reviews and some testing I did in a VM I decided to put this on my live machines. It is more responsive than ESS 9 and I don't miss the Anti-Theft. I'm still on the first day but liking it so far. I still hate this forum though for the fact that it once again lets me type a reply but doesn't tell me I'm not logged in until I click post and it dumps my text.
  16. I am having no problems with ESS 9.0.375.0 and Firefox x64 45 RC2. I doubt it is a compatibility issue with Firefox x64. I still hate that this forum lets me type out a reply and then dumps it and tells me I'm not logged in. I'm sure there are options for the admin to somehow disable the reply box or force a login rather than letting me waste the time and effort.
  17. I've been having this issue with all of the v9 builds. On both of the PCs I installed it on. Sometimes it will show a time, but most of the time it just says it has never been updated. I'm assuming it is a GUI bug.
  18. Ok, after I typed a nice lengthy reply I was reminded by this forum software that I was not logged in and unlike every other forum I have ever used it dumps my text instead of prompting me to log in. Long story short, I suspect that ESET's license system shows me burning an activation I am not using because their uninstaller failed. After having removed it from all of my machines, if I decide I want to use it again I will contact support.
  19. I was unable to get ESS 9 to uninstall from my desktop machine the last time around. Had to run the uninstall tool in safe mode. Now when I reinstall, it activates with a different machine name than previously (a "1" is appended). Does this mean I am burning up 3 of 3 license for 2 machines? If I can mange my own antitheft online, why can't I reset a license?
  20. Still can't open SSL sites with SSL scanning enabled. I'm fine with leaving it off at the present time but it is still a problem.
