  1. Hello BjorgBjorn and welcome to the forum. As Marcos said ESS is now EIS and yes you can use your ESS license (if it's still valid) for EIS or NOD32. ESSP is the new "high priced" version of ESS. Think of it in a cost perspective way. You can stay the same or go to NOD32, but an upgrade to ESSP would require some sort of (sales$$) contact with your distributor/reseller. And yes a ESSP license should be able to be used for NOD32 as well.

    Best regards.

@TomFace - Please accept my sincere apologies for sharing a link to an existing post about an upcoming release, I wasn't aware of that rule (not that ignorance of the law is a valid excuse!)

    Bill_k....no problem;) on my end.

Your apology, while appreciated, is not necessary. Some folks get excited:rolleyes: when word gets out about every (possible) new release, it's been that way for years.

Idle speculation is just that...speculation. The only folks who know when ESET will release new versions or updates are the powers that be, at ESET.

Not doubting that this license is invalid, but isn't there an issue with the 'Help and support' screen where it appears to be displayed as an active license? ?

I could be wrong, but I am not aware of ESET selling 10 year licenses (at least in the USA). To me, that's a red flag:o.

Of course I cannot speak for their resellers/distributors:unsure:.

I am a teacher (and as of recently, an IT administrator) at a small private school in the US.

I found the ESET Security forum while trying to reach a representative on Saturday.  Our Server runs Windows Server 2016, and our devices run anything from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  We initially purchased ESET Endpoint Antivirus (Basic), but have upgraded to ESET Endpoint Antivirus Advanced (or Premium, don't remember the exact wording).

I have no formal training in IT, and so am learning as I go.

Hello and welcome jastirm. Sorry I missed your post on the first go-round (I must have has a senior moment:rolleyes:). Anyway glad you are here.;)

This is a good place to learn something new each day. At least that's my goal!:P

This ESET support article states, "Users with a valid license can upgrade to the latest product version for free". So it appears with an active license you would get the 2019 version. :)

Yes that has always been true. As long as it is a like for like product. Unless the policy has changed, a NOD32 user could update to the new release of NOD32.

That same NOD32 user could not update/upgrade to say ESSP without a sales contact (of some type)/price increase.

  6. Hello and welcome to the Forum Bill_k. You'll find some very knowledgeable ESET Staff and forum members here. I find that ESET products are superior to their competition and the Customer Support (which includes this forum) to be very good and responsive.

Looking forward to seeing you here.;)

    Best regards.

@TomFace I will follow you...  set to "Informative" now. I hope it works,

The first day of this month  I've gotten a notification about module updates, but since then no more ? ?

    03EISWeird.jpg.e30d0724ed38c0d87588d19fdda0e553.jpg

What I use works for me......I'll keep my fingers crossed....check your log (events) file against your updates list (program "update") to be sure you are up to date (update-wise).

If it were a widespread issue, we've would have seen a flurry of forum activity.

    Best regards.

  8. Hello camelia. You may want to review the following "help" topic from the EIS program help source. https://help.eset.com/eis/11.2/en-US/idh_page_security_report.html?zoom_highlightsub=security+report

If you go to the "help and support" section in your program, you'll find many things there that might assist you.

If not, there's always the ESET Knowledgebase...see https://support.eset.com/

    Best regards.

  9. I never said you had an error. I only thought if the duration was too short or the transparency too dim you may not have seen it (the notification) in time or only as a ghost image. I think your settings should be OK.

Here are mine just for comparison:

    1402873752_Updates8.1_18.thumb.jpg.2162a2b537bb7a0ff21c69b3ed11690d.jpg

I have my verbosity set to "informative". https://help.eset.com/eav/11.1/en-US/idh_config_alert.html

Diagnostic – Logs information needed to fine-tune the program and all records above.

Informative – Records informative messages, including successful update messages, plus all records above.

Warnings – Records critical errors and warning messages.

Errors – Errors such as "Error downloading file" and critical errors will be recorded.

Critical – Logs only critical errors (error starting antivirus protection, etc...).

Actually, due to your thread I just realized that I also was not seeing update notifications...with the upgrade to 11.2.49.0 (a clean install) I forgot to re-enable the update notifications (in the "Updates" section under My Profile) as the default is off/notifications disabled (I believe).

    So thanks to you!;)

    Best regards.

As far as I am aware of, Eset does not offer multi-year licenses for Internet/Smart Security versions. If this license originated from China, I would be suspect of its legitimacy.

ESET does offer up to 3 years license on NOD32, EIS and ESSP and has for quite sometime (at least in the USA).

    see https://www.eset.com/us/home/smart-security-premium/

    https://www.eset.com/us/home/internet-security/#?years=3

    https://www.eset.com/us/home/antivirus/#?years=3

I would imagine this license in question was purchased through a reseller or distributor (of some type:unsure:)...I do not know if ESET does business in China, so I would think the answer lies with that reseller/distributor.

Also just because your not connected to the Internet via a web browser does not mean that your network connection is not active. It is unless you manually disable it or "pull the Ethernet plug" or disable your Wi-Fi connection.

I think what jems is referring to (not being answered) is what itman posted the other day.

    **********************************************

    jems responding 7.24.18 11:10PM

"I don't understand how i can be "attacked" if i am offline.  Does that mean live grid is not diacbled when i disable.  My impression of my anti virus suite is that it is protecting me in the background.  I can live with having the not connected pop-ups, - just that it seems odd that Live Grid cannot be working when offline, but an attacker may.  contradicts."

    ***********************************************

jems, if you are NOT connected to the internet you cannot be attacked by something new from the internet. Not being connected will make LiveGrid® unavailable and you'll get the yellow indicator as we discussed earlier. If you re-read itman's post, it says if you are not using a browser (IE, Firefox...etc), you "could" be still connected to the internet, unless you disable (disconnect) your connection. It's like having the TV on (connected to the internet), but tuned to a nonexistent channel/watching snow (not using a browser) . The TVs still on, but no show is on the TV.

Of course, if you previously picked up some malware while you were online, that would already be in your PC regardless if you are connected or not to the internet presently.

Hopefully I'm correctly explaining itman's post and we're glad you are back.:P

    Best regards.:)

    Question:

Will the program be updated automatically to this version or do I have to do a manual search?

Because I'm still in version 11.1.54.0 and I have not had any notification to update EIS.

    Hello Hijin25.

v11.2.49.0 was released 7.17.18, so I would imagine you should see something through the update/upgrade feature in EIS within the next week (or so). But that is just my educated guess. You can always go to https://support.eset.com/kb2476/ to get the latest version, as per https://forum.eset.com/topic/16091-eset-windows-home-products-version-112490-have-been-released/

One of the better definitions for port 443 use was given over at dslreports.com which is, it is used by that WAP device connected to the router. The WAP as far as U-Verse is concerned interfaces with the wireless set top TV devices.

However as I stated previously, ATT used port 443 on its routers long before U-Verse existed.

So the best definition of port 443 usage is it controls and interfaces with any WAP device attached to the router. So if you use U-Verse TV w/o any additional wireless boxes, port 443 on the WAN side of the router can be closed ;i.e. connection interface deleted. Likewise if you only use ATT DSL and do not connect to an devices wirelessly in your home; i.e. no WAP device is connected to the router, port 443 on the WAN side of the router can be closed. Bottom line - no WAP device then no need for port 443 on the WAN side of the router connection.

It is somewhat implied that the Motorola routers referenced are only Ethernet based and are not wireless/Ethernet hybrids as produced by some router manufacturers.

My PC is wireless U-verse and I do have another TV on a wireless U-verse box/connection. They both work fine without port 443 being open. AT&T, as of late, opens 443 daily. Back in the 3rd-4th quarter of last year (2017) it was closed for about a 2 month period (AT&T not opening it daily). Obviously I check it daily...it usually opens after 9:30AM EDT (and I close it shortly thereafter). From my point of view, 443 being open is a unnecessary vulnerability that I do not need (whether the threat is real/substantiated or not). It's akin to the news websites that auto-play their hottest videos when you open their page. If it isn't needed, it's all a matter of choice and control of your own space. (My U-verse box is an ARRIS...not sure if that is part of Motorola)

  14. Hello stueycaster.

Regarding port 443, I too have AT&T U-verse and AT&T seems to want to keep that port open. I close it as required by deleting that addition via the AT&T U-verse/router portal...firewall>NAT/Gaming without any ill effects on my U-verse Internet or TV (having that port closed helps my OCD sleep at night:lol:).

Here are some websites that will help you see what ports are open/closed/stealth.

    http://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/

    https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

Once you click on the GRC link and then PROCEED, you'll have access to the port scanning links (under the yellow Exposure test button).

  15. Hello camelia. Take a look at this KB https://help.eset.com/essp/11.1/en-US/idh_config_windows_update.html

I use Win 7 and receive notifications via Windows update and EIS. This is my current setup in EIS. Go to Setup>Advanced setup>Tools>Windows Updates.

    Hi

Just wondering if there is any way i can stop eset from popping up informing me i am not on live grid.  I work mostly offline - word processing, etc.  When i go online, i automatically do a manual eset update.  I have 1 PC on w-10.  The other on W-7.  Thank you.

Hello jems. Good to see you again. I agree with itman about NOT disabling LiveGrid® and I do not believe that's what you are asking. If I am understanding your question correctly, you might wish to take a look further at this KB https://help.eset.com/essp/11.1/en-US/idh_config_environment.html

You'll want to go to User Interface Elements>Statuses>Application Statuses>Edit>General. I think you'll find what you are inquiring about there.

That being said, I too do much work off line and only connect to the web when I choose to. I have learned to ignore the yellow caution indicator because I know I am off line at the time. It's my choice to NOT disable any alerts/indicators/advisories as they tell me ESET is doing its job and is active. So when I do connect to the web, it updates/connects as it should as shows me that it did.

    Best Regards.?
