Unable to activate version 9

I just updated my ESET Smart Security from version 8 to 9 by using the "Check for update" button in version 8. The install finished but then came up with the message, "Activation failed. Invalid license key."

 

So, I entered in the key manually (the key starts with EAV, correct?). But it still says that it is invalid. 

 

I am running Windows 7. I am not using any sort of proxy server. 

 

While this is not activated, does it mean I am not protected? I'm very unhappy.

License activation is not needed if you upgrade from an older version which has a valid username/password entered in the update setup.

Please pm me your license key so that I can check your license status and to make sure that the key is correct and valid.
