What does activation do?

I have installed ESET Nod 32 vers 8.0  Does it require activation?  I have a username/password, but have not done this, yet.  Will running a non-activated copy be less secure?

If I remember correctly, not activated products will not update.

Yeah I don't think you will receive any VSD or module updates unless you activate.

 

Click on "activate your product..." in the tray menu.

 

And use the "Activate using a Username and Password" option.
