But as this question has not many to do with ESS here the short answer: For zip files there is no way to repair it AFAIK. Rar files you can sometimes repair/restore if they contain special data which allows this. I don't know which software can do this, but WinRAR is one example. But if you asked this because you saw such messages in ESS then don't care about this, because a file which is damaged cannot do anything badly.
