The_Eagle_007 3
Recently we all know that ESET has introduced Folder Guard which is good to have as a feature. My concern is that does ESET now also have ransomware remediation feature or is ESET working on it? I didn't see any such features in the settings. If it's available in the latest version along with the folder guard then please make sure that user sees such an option in the UI of ESET. Please clarify this to me. We want a robust ransomware remediation feature like Bitdefender and Kaspersky have it in its AV. I do like ESET in terms if usability and such ransomware remediation feature is essential these days. The_Eagle_007 3
@rotaruyes I am well aware about it. But would like to see an explanation with the other feature that is ransomware remediation. This feature if its fully functional it does not only provide the backup of those files which are present in the folder guard but also it can remediate any files that was encrypted and which is not a part of folder guard . If you are referring to the ability to recover encrypted files such as both Kaspersky or BitDefender have, the answer is no. Kaspersky does it via its system snapshot capability which is included within its System Watcher processing. BitDefender will start backing up files when it detects suspicious encryption activity. Neither of these will usually result in 100% recovery of encrypted files, but will allow for the majority of them being restored. I also agree this backup capability is something Eset should be considering. garioch7, foxtigerjungle and micasayyo
Administrators Solution Marcos 5,382 Posted Sunday at 06:13 AM Administrators Solution Share Posted Sunday at 06:13 AM The ransowmare remediation feature will first be included in ESET Endpoint v12 and possibly in home products afterwards. micasayyo, foxtigerjungle and garioch7
EAV8 6
@Marcos does this mean that in the best case scenario, we won't see this type of capability until v19 in a year's time? foxtigerjungle

Sounds good. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long. 😉 The_Eagle_007 and garioch7
garioch7 3
@Marcos, That is great news. I have used both products mentioned but never had to put them to the test. Ransomware is the major malware species these days for the obvious reason that the creators of such a scourge can make immense profits from companies in particular. I think that will be a significant enhancement to the ESET product line. +1 Have a great day. Regards, Phil foxtigerjungle
The_Eagle_007 3 Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM @Marcoslooking forward to that day when ESET introduces the same in its home prodcuts. ESET pricing is very reasonable in my country but I will say that please don't increase prices after you add this protection component for any region. Keep it the way it is now. Also hoping to see it at the earliest. Please make it robust and effective feature. Have a great day ahead, The_Eagle_007
