High CPU usage after October 14 2024 update

Recommended Posts

After update on October 14 2024, ESET is consuming 20-30 % CPU constantly, driving total cpu use to 100%.
Rolling back the update resolves this issue.

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.5011], AMD FX-8320, 32 GB RAM.

A reboot seem to fix it this, or maybe the distribution was updated with the fix.

in any case things are much better after a reboot.

Should the problem recur and no on-demand scan is running, please carry on as follows:

  1. Enable advanced operating system logging under Tools -> Diagnostics -> Advanced logging in the advanced setup
  2. After 30-60s stop logging
  3. Collect logs with ESET Log Collector and upload the generated archive to a safe location (e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox,...) and drop me a personal message with a download link.
