Highflyer 0
I could not figure out why copy/paste inside windows 10 from one folder to another (or to desktop) was so extremely slow. Down to 0 kbps at times. Through many, many different tries and settings inside windows 10 (nothing helped!), I got lucky. Trying to copy/paste with VPN disabled, didn't do anything. VPN was not the culprit. Then I paused ESET protection on my PC, and voila!!!!! Copy and paste was at it's usual speed. Tried several times with ESET enabled, or disabled, to verify it was ESET antivirus!! Obviously ESET antivirus was the culprit. Is there a setting that can cure this slow copy/paste "illness". Surely, I shouldn't have to disable the antivirus protection every time I have to copy/paste! Absolutely a ESET antivirus created problem. Time to fix this! Administrators Marcos 5,090 Posted February 3 Administrators Share Posted February 3 Do you copy files on the same disk? Please do the following: Temporarily disable protected service in the HIPS setup Reboot the machine Start logging with Procmon Copy a file to reproduce the issue Stop logging Save the Procmon log unfiltered in the PML format and compress it Re-enable protected service Reboot the machine. Please provide: - the Procmon log - logs collected with ESET Log Collector - the name of the file that you copied during the test.
Highflyer 0
Copy/paste seems to slow down at start(calculating), then again at exactly at 82% it stops end ends the transfer to a crawl. Sometimes 0kbps up to only maybe 4 or 7 mbps. Normal speed on this pc without ESET activated is around 25 mbps! Logfile is small enough to upload, but essp-logs folder seems to be too large to download. (even zipped it is 250mb) Also tried to set the log time to only one day. Still 250mb file. Administrators Marcos 5,090 Posted February 12 Administrators Share Posted February 12 It appears that NordSec ThreatProtection is running. Please disable it or uninstall it to see if it makes a difference.
Highflyer 0
Here is the weird thing. Both seem to affect the copy/paste. If I disable either one, the copy/paste is fine. So it is affected by both equally it seems. It needs either one to be disabled. Weird or what? I guess I'll have to live with it until maybe future updates by either. Administrators Marcos 5,090 Posted February 12 Administrators Share Posted February 12 Running multiple real-time protections concurrently should be avoided, otherwise it may cause various issues when they attempt to access and read or block a file at the same time. Highflyer 0
So be it. Never was a problem before!! I'll deal with it, as if I have a choice. Lots of people use a VPN plus an antivirus program. That's the times we are in. Never was a problem until recently. Thanks for the help. Regards
