dh27564 0
I am a new user to ESET Smart Security Premium but have used various antivirus and internet security suites in the past. The version number is 17.0.15.0 on a Windows 10 desktop. I have set up a weekly scheduled scan using the Tools > Scheduler option. The scan should run every Saturday at 8:00 pm but does not. It has missed at least 2 run dates. The last run time remains blank and the next run time will advance by 7 days. I am able to manually run the scan by right-clicking the task. Does ESET use Windows Task Scheduler? If so, I can find no entry there relating to the scan. I have attached a couple screen shots. Administrators Marcos 5,266 Posted December 18, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 18, 2023 Couldn't it be that the machine was not turned on last Saturday at 8PM when the scan was supposed to run? Windows Scheduler is not used for scheduled tasks.
dh27564 0
It is quite possible that the computer was in "Sleep" mode, but not turned off. Does ESET wake the machine from Sleep mode?
dh27564 0
I found the answer in KB3207: "If the computer is in sleep mode or any other power-saving state, the scan will not occur. The computer must be fully powered on". Waking the machine from sleep would be a nice feature for a user to have. Is there a "Wish List" section in the forums? Administrators Marcos 5,266 Posted December 19, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 19, 2023 If you want you can post the wish in the "Future changes to..." topic in this forum or report the wish via your ESET local distributor or partner. Solution COStark26 10 Posted December 20, 2023 Solution Share Posted December 20, 2023 Could you not use Task Scheduler to Wake-up the computer at 7:50 PM to Run an insignificant App and Then let Eset's scheduler run independently at 8 PM? I can't write the necessary Script needed to start App 1 but it seems logical to consider.

I am only slightly familiar with WTS. Still, I may dabble with that.
dh27564 0
Trying your suggestion. Got into Windows Task Scheduler and created a task to wake the computer at 7:50 pm each Saturday night and launch a program used infrequently. Then, using the ESET scheduler, I confirmed the scheduled smart scan to start weekly on Saturdays at 8:00 pm. The computer is set to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity so that shouldn't come into play.
COStark26 10
I can't get a "Start a Program" Test of this to work trying - WizTree64.exe - as the Program to start. Can you try a Test Setup Now for 10 minutes later to see if Your Setup works? I realize I don't understand the actual Trigger to wake-up Windows as when I manually dbl-clk -- WizTree64.exe (or any exe) ... I Then MUST OK UAC ... which I don't have a script for in Task Mgr. Does That Delay Computer Wake-up? I don't know. There IS a Box to name Which Windows AND one to chk in the Conditions tab -- Wake-Up Computer - I first did not see - Be sure you chk'd them. Can't miss logic and execution via Task Mgr are two different things as I have shown. Good Luck!
dh27564 0
That seems to do the trick! 1. I edited the WTS task to wake the computer and launch an application in 10 minutes. 2. I edited the ESET schedule to start a scan in 15 minutes 3. Put the computer to sleep. Everything happened right on schedule. I thought ESET would show its GUI but that didn't happen. The scan was running in the background though and clicking the ESET desktop icon brought up the GUI with the scan in progress. That was a good learning lesson for me. Thanks for suggesting that! COStark26 10
Glad it worked out. I DID NOT have Wake Timer Enabled in Control panel Power Options and THAT seemed to fix my issue. I think I previously Disabled it fighting Sleep waking-up on its own repeatedly. Windows comes on about 20 seconds before the Set Time and No evidence of the app, BUT it did Wake-up. We both learned something. Edited December 21, 2023 by COStark26
