hubertcross 0
I often let people borrow my laptop on campus for presentations, and their USB drives have many computer virus programs. I am concerned that as soon as the person plugs in their flash drive, I will get the virus on my computer ... Is it possible to force NOD32 to run a scan before Windows mounts the volume? thanks, Hubert
ESET Moderators foneil 342 Posted January 7, 2015 ESET Moderators Share Posted January 7, 2015 I'm not sure about the technology behind the scan, that is, whether ESET scans first before Windows mounts it. If you haven't seen it yet, here is the relevant ESET Knowledgebase article: How do I configure ESET NOD32 Antivirus or ESET Smart Security to automatically scan removable media devices? hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2882
Administrators Marcos 4,935 Posted January 7, 2015 Administrators Share Posted January 7, 2015 It's not possible and not needed. Files executed from removable media are scanned using advanced heuristics so if potential malware attempted to run and ESET had a signature to recognize it, it would be blocked. Otherwise it wouldn't be detected and cleaned during an automatic scan either.
