Hi all,

i use wintobootic, unetbootin, sardu/yumi, to make a 110 gb bootable xubuntu live,
a windows to go workspace (portable windows os), multibootable/multi-os usb disks,

but i have boot errors, because theses usb disks maybe infected,

i tried etcher one day on one or two usb disks in 2016, but
results: because of etcher’s job, my sd/usb disk sadly converted to CD/DVD disk, but not a partition

question: Etcher can create bootables with Fat32/NTFS/ExFAT output format ?: because my interest of bootable usb disks is to add files videos, jpg, docs, … on bootable sd/usb disks

Hi,

Etcher does not “create bootables with Fat32/NTFS/ExFAT output format” or anything else. It copies the disk image you provide it to a block device. Nothing more. It copies all the bytes from the input file without changing them.

It's not clear how your issue is related to an installed Eset product.

If you believe your USB drives are infected, just do a full reformat on them. Then use the software you noted to make them bootable.

Balenaetcher i dont wanna use That Balenaetcher etcher because it convert an external drive such usb and mini sd to CDFS/DVD ROM file system, go results to i cant copy personnal docs to a bootable usb/sd drive made by Balenaetcher 

 

We need help and desinfect here for the 3 following steps here:

Stép 1: donwnload and install nod32 total security 

Step 2: uninstall Balenaetcher

Step 3: convert CDFS/DVDROM filesystem to fat32 or ntfs and ex fat without data loss on the usb/card/externat disk made by Balenaetcher

You can format the real part of the flash drive like this:

 

Find it on "Computer":

 

Right-click it, go to format. Change the "File System" drop box to NTFS.

Well Cameron, I just kept playing around with the formatting tool. I somehow finally got the flash drive to re-format the main part of the drive as NTFs and assigned it a drive letter of H. I still have a small portion of the drive that has a drive letter of G which is CDFS and I can't seem to do anything with that portion. It just means that when I insert the flash drive, two drives, g & h, are listed. G shows up as a CD drive, and H as a removable disk. I'm satisfied with that solution. It salvages most of the flash drive which is what I wanted in the first place.

At this point, data from the NTFS formatted portion of the USB drive should be accessible. You can copy it to a Win OS folder. If there is any malware in the data, Eset should detect it as its being copied. You can also scan the folder with Eset if so desired.

 

Finally, I would do a full reformat of the USB drive as NTFS. Then copy the saved files back to the newly formatted USB drive.

 

However if most of your data resides in the CDFS/DVDROM portion of the drive, you're most like going to have to convert it back to a normal NTFS partition using this Balenaetcher software you refer to. I don't know of any other way to do so.

I dont want use longer to use etcher i use concurrence because etcher tranzforms real usb/externat drive/sd card into a dvdrom file system

If ils a dvd file system i cant copy docs and data on that

I have searched the web on this issue. Every posting I have encountered stated it can't be done.

On the other hand, You can copy files from that drive and move them to where ever. If you can't copy files from the drive, this balenaetcher software you reference must have put some type "lock" on the files to prevent copying.

I would copy files on bootable usb, but etcher by balena convert the usb and sd to dvd rom's cdfs file system. I cant copy date into a usb drive formated/converted into cdfs system

I wanna reconvert cdfs to fat32 or exfat or ntfs without data loss keeping the bootable contents and
