ransomware disguised as windows update

so i came across this video today saying malicious websites are loading what looks like trusted and signed windows update files on peoples computers but was actually self executing ransomware, and that it was slipping past malware detection on some computers.  just wanted to make you guys aware of it.  also wondering if for some reason a computer started running the "malicious update"/encryption, would the best thing to do to unplug the machine or hold down power button?

I would add that upon the first submission to VT, 10 out of 61 AVs detected it, including ESET. Of course, this is just an on-demand scan detection which doesn't say anything about the behavioral on-execute protection.

I see Leo from the PC Security Channel is alive and well ...............

As he notes at the beginning of the video, the surest way to end up with crap like this is to install cracked software. Just don't do it. Installing cracked software falls into the category of "it keeps on giving, and giving, and giving ..........." as far as malware infections go on your PC.
