bamajon1974 0 Posted February 19, 2019 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Can ESET smart security suite be run concurrently with Windows Defender and Windows Firewall or should Windows Defender and Windows Firewall both be disabled in favor of the ESET smart security suite? Does Smart Security Suite automatically disable the built in windows security software? Can ESET smart security suite be run concurrently with other malware software such as Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, Spybot Search and Destroy or Malwarebytes AntiMalware or are they incompatible? After installing ESET on a system with Windows Defender, Windows automatically disables WD as soon as ESET registers in the Security Center and re-enables it after uninstalling ESET or when the license expires and the product stops updating. If you have ESET installed, use another AV only as a second-opinion on-demand scanner, ie. make sure that no drivers are installed by the other AV. This is also an answer to your question re. Again to clarify, don't install other security software like Spyware Search & Destroy or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with realtime protection that would interfere with ESET software, correct? In the past you could run several different spyware scanners in conjunction with an anti-virus scan for more comprehensive scans. Is that still true now? Are the additional scanners like Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, etc. redundant with ESET nowadays? I am trying to keep my system as clutter free from extra software as possible. FYI - MSRT is downloaded and run with each Win Update monthly cumulative update as noted in the link reference posted below. Therefore, there is no need to download it separately. It is also of dubious effectiveness: Quote MSRT targets prevalent malware families only.
