Just installed on top off SS ver. 10 and it went "smooth as silk." Kudos to Eset for finally straightening out the installer.

I asked this previously. When will any tech details be available on the UEFI BIOS scanner? What component of Eset is responsible for it; anti-stealth, start-up scanning, etc.?

I think that the only currently available, public info about the UEFI scanner is on the KB What's New: https://support.eset.com/kb6564/#UEFIScanner

Can we get any kind of assurance from ESET that they're not similarly compromised like Kaspersky supposedly is?

ESET has no comment on this story at this time ("Kaspersky compromised") as details are still emerging. However, our implementation is different and we operate under the laws of the EU, and Slovakia is a member of the European Union and NATO. Slovakia is also on the list of DOD approved countries (http://gsa.federalschedules.com/resources/taa-designated-countries/).

  3. I'm told (from ESET malware support) that this looks similar in behavior to other toolbar PUAs (http://www.virusradar.com/en/Win32_Adware.Toolbar.Visicom.AB/description) -- are you seeing this in Chrome? If so, follow the same instructions in this KB https://support.eset.com/kb6551/, making sure that you don't have sync enabled or it will keep coming back.

Otherwise, submit support request for malware tech support to look into it: https://support.eset.com/kb3742/

  4. There's an ongoing discussion on this detection at https://forum.eset.com/topic/13073-jsmindsparke/, please continue with the discussion there. Basically you'll need to disable syncing of Chrome extensions to prevent the PUA from being continually downloaded and detected. Having said that, we'll draw this topic to a close.

  5. We do have a KB that may help, depending on what you wanted to use the DG for. The KB instructions show how to create a task, I don't think there's a DG template to do this:

"The "Delete not connecting computers" task lets you remove computers according to specified criteria. If the ERA Agent on a client computer has not connected for a number of days, it can be removed from ERA Web Console."

  6. 1) the individual support ticket sites are by region, so if there's an issue with the /uk page, that would be resolved by the UK team, I've notified them of this thread

    2) where are you finding that kb.eset.com link? That is a really old link, we migrated to support.eset.com some time ago. Maybe the security alert is a result of the redirect. I can mention this to our web team to look at.

  7. The first time ESET detects the PUA (if you have PUA detection enabled), it will prompt you for an action. Selecting “Clean” will close the browser and the extension will not be detected anymore. However, if you have browser extension syncing enabled, then it will continue to be detected by ESET. The workaround in Chrome for this issue is detailed in the KB, no other products are needed to resolve this issue: https://support.eset.com/kb6551/
