  1. I am a current user, and I have purchased a CD (great sale price) and wanted to use it to renew my license. I dont see an entry to Activate using product key; rather, i get sent to the purchase page. Can you please let me know how to do that please?

    Thanks

    Ron

You can activate your product key from hxxp://www.eset.com/activate

After completing the webform and clicking "Submit" you'll be sent to a blank page showing your new Username and password. This will also be emailed to the address you provide.

Once you have this new username and password, enter the new username and password into your ESET Program Window. Your product will display your new expiration date the next time it updates the virus signature database...or you can also run one manually.

  2. Actually that is not true. At this moment we can confirm that all databases and users details at ESET systems are and always were safe and secure. The investigation into how this attack occured and who is responsible is still ongoing and until more information is confirmed and released by the authorities, any further statements about the incident are purely speculative.

  3.

Hello everyone! I would like to suggest you some change in the "Gamer Mode"

It's enabling automaticly when I'm running any fullscreen application, but thats not that good! Many of my applications are running in Windowed mode and on full screen resolution. Antivirus is not able to detect that! So, would be better if you could create a list option where you can add programs which will enable "Gamer Mode" function automaticly.
    Thank you

You can prevent Gamer mode from starting whenever you run a full-screen application. The steps for that are shown in Section III of the following KB Article:

How do I enable/disable Gamer mode in ESET Smart Security or NOD32 Antivirus?

  4.

Does the ESETSirefef removal tool fix the junctions created by the new variant in the Windows Defender and/or Microsoft Sercurity Client directory?

Yes the ESETSirefefCleaner will not only correct the junctions/symbolic links which Sirefef puts in Windows Defender/Microsoft Security Essentials, but it will also repair the services which Sirefef removes from a system.

Thanks for the info James. The KB article for removing Sirefef has recently been updated and the above info may also be added into the article soon.

  5. Hello Eset (what became of the poll feature)

Would it or could it be  an idea to introduce a poll, about e.g. on one of Eset's beta 7 new features?. A poll can give a selective point of view on a special area of a product, and is an another way of getting a feedback. And at the same time very illustrative. The function "polls" were introduced in the making of this new forum, but was if I remember right, limited so it was only the moderators that could create a poll. If it is a function that is still in play, then it could be the right time with the release of the new beta.

    Regards, Janus

I think this might be something good to add in a week or two when people have had the beta for a while. This allows people to get past their initial reactions and base their answers about each feature on having used those features for a few weeks. Our new SysTray icon is a great example of initial shock followed by change of opinion or at least a dimming of those initial feelings.

  6. Perhaps someone can help. I downloaded and installed the software and I can't activate it because no email ever showed up.

With the beta there is no activation email. At the end of the installation process, when asked to activate you can either choose "Activate Beta" OR if you've upgraded over v5 or v6, it will should remember your license credentials.

  7. After installing this v7 beta, my hdd disk space has been disappearing.

As I leave my computer on, I can clearly see the GB's flying by as the hours passes. What's wrong with this program? This did not happen before and no, I'm not downloading anything from the internet. Just by leaving my computer on, the available space shrinks.

What Windows OS are you running and which ESET Product are you testing?

When you say HDD disk space is disappearing do you mean RAM, virtual memory or are you actually seeing physical HDD disk space being filled?

  8. Issue: Some users may receive SSL Certificate conflict notifications (ie. "This Connection Is Not Trusted") when attempting to access forum.eset.com. This may also cause the CAPTCHA feature to fail when trying to create an account.

Solution: We are aware of the issue and our Administrators are working directly with IP Board to troubleshoot and fix the problem. While there is no ETA on when this will be resolved, we do not expect this issue to persist for very long.

  9. OK you should still be within your renewal period. Based on your original post, I'm assuming your license expired yesterday (Wednesday at longest) and since you've been with us for 7 years, I'm also assuming you've renewed through us before. If the above is true, you should be able to renew your license at renewal prices.

The next two possible options are below:

    1. Try renewing online through hxxp://www.eset.com/us/renew & If this still doesn't work, try option 2.
    2. Call our Sales Dept directly. The number is 866-343-3738 and they're open M-F, 7am-5pm PT.

If you're comfortable renewing over the phone, I'd recommend just giving us a call.
if both options fail, please post back and let us know.

  10. My apologies, that was me.

The topic you posted showed up twice. I removed one and somehow the second instance must have been removed as well and I was unaware. I will reinstate your topic and merge it with the one you just created.

If you ever see any functionality issues with the forums (ie your thread disappeared and a moderator didn't contact you to explain why) please post your feedback in the Forum Feedback topic OR PM a member of the Moderation Team.

  11. The Bablyon Toolbar is detected as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA); Win32/Toolbar.Babylon & we also detect trojans like Bableper that entice users to download the Babylon toolbar.

(NOTE: The above hyperlinks go to our VirusRadar Threat Encyclopedia and do NOT contain any access to these files themselves)

PUAs are not Malware but some PUA may contain malware or perform unwanted processes, which is why we warn our users about them.

As Marcos stated, please email samples[at]eset.com if you believe there is a varient of Babylon that our scanners have missed.

  13. Welcome to the ESET Security Forum!  We are a widely diverse community of people and we’ve created this thread to allow you to introduce yourself to us and learn a little about who we are.

Please feel free to write a short post about you and also answer the questions below. When you’re done reading through this thread, check out our dedicated FAQ section and Help Files.

How did you find the ESET Security Forum?

    What OS are you running?

    What AV are you running?

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I'll start out. Hey everyone! I'm DWomack and I've been with ESET since 2009. I started out working in Customer Care-Home Support and last July became the first (and so far only) Online Community Specialist at ESET North America. I was part of the awesome team that helped create the forums and I'm excited about helping all our users and prospective users here and one all our social networks.

At home I have two main laptop I use running Win7 on one and Win8 on the other. I have ESS v6 running on the Win8 and I'm testing EAV v7 Beta on Win7.

Interesting fact, I am an out-of-practice musician (multiple instruments but mostly trumpet and guitar) and singer. I'm out of practice only in that I haven't picked up the trumpet in about 8 years and I don't pick up the guitar as much as I'd like to. Music is my soul and I'm hoping to get back into school studying music and performing again at some point.

Also, for many English is not their primary language. Make an effort to understand the other person’s point of view before posting a reply. Your patience will be greatly appreciated.

    • Keep Calm and Chat On. Sometimes the topic of a conversation can bring out strong emotions with those involved. If you find yourself becoming upset by something that has been posted, step away from the conversation for a while and return to it when you feel calm. If you feel that you cannot respond to a topic or post in a calm and respectful manner, it’s probably best to leave the conversation completely.

ESET Moderator decision on what is deemed unsuitable for the forum is final. If the topic is light-hearted and family-friendly, it will have a better chance of surviving and even thriving.

    • Do NOT post ESET-related support questions in General Discussion. If you need support for your ESET product or have other ESET-related support questions, comments or inquiries, please post them in the appropriate Forum for that product or topic.

    • Do NOT hijack a topic. Stick to the original subject of the conversation. If you wish to discuss another subject, feel free to create a new topic on that subject.
