  1. This depends on which version of the ERA console you are using:

ERA v5: How do I push install to client workstations using ESET Remote Administrator 5?

ERA v6: How do I push install to client workstations using ESET Remote Administrator 6?

If the push installation fails, run through this checklist: hxxp://support.eset.com/kb82/

Also, NOD32 for business is now called ESET Endpoint Antivirus. Just wanted to be sure you weren't confused by the terminology.

    Cheers! :)

  2. Hello! We’re sorry you’re experiencing issues related to Facebook Malware Checkpoint. A Facebook algorithm has identified your computer as possibly being infected by malicious software. To use your Facebook account, you will need to login and use our free ESET Online Scanner to check your system for possible threats. Just run ESET Online Scanner after it downloads; once the scan has begun, you don’t need to wait until it finishes. You can find an easy step-by-step guide here: hxxp://support.eset.com/kb3626/

If that link does not work for you, here is a link to our post on this: hxxp://www.eset.com/int/about/press/eset-blog/article/why-does-facebook-require-that-i-scan-my-computer-with-eset/

  3. UPDATE: I do see that Jim called in and we ran him through KB2289 (Manual Uninstall/Reinstall) but I do not see whether the issue had been resolved. Will follow up with Customer Care to verify.

Jim, if you're still following this thread, please let us know if you were able to get things working again or still need assistance. Thanks!

  4. This attack scenario has been known about for more than 11 years (and likely more than 15) and to date, it hasn't materialized in the wild, even after Matousec's blog post created such a media panic back in 2010. The overall danger remains low and while you don't need to be worried about your security in this regard, as always, we advise you to keep your system up to date, and to update your security solutions and other installed software regularly AND stay vigilant in using safe browsing habits while online.

  5. You mention purchasing ESET NOD32 Antivirus from a retail store. The following would help you, since you likely do NOT have a username and password just yet:

The first time you install your ESET product, use your Activation Key:

    1. Locate the Activation Key printed inside your product package.
    2. Since you've already installed the software, go to https://www.eset.com/us/activate/ and fill out the form to activate your serial key and generate a username/password.
    3. Once you hit submit, you will be redirected to a blank page showing the username/password for your license. You will also be sent an email with this information for your records. KEEP THIS EMAIL!
    4.  You can then use the instructions here to help you enter this information into your product OR just open the program window, hit CTRL+U, enter the credentials, then click OK.

Your other option is to uninstall ESET NOD32 Antivirus and reinstall BUT near the end of installation, choose to activate using your serial key.

For the email that you have already received, there is an 'unsubscribe' option at the end of the email. It may take 24 hours for the system to process the change but usually it's much more immediate than that.

  6. You can always reach out to our labs direct by emailing samples@eset.com

Some things to note when submitting a false positive, potentially malicious site, product bug, etc:

    1. In the Subject line: Indicate if the attached file contains a suspected infection or a false positive (for example, in this case start the subject with "potential Phishing URLs").
    2. In the body of the email: Attach any relevant information that may help our lab identify the issue including: COMPLETE URL(s), screenshots, detailed descriptions, why you think the site may be a phishing site, etc.

They cannot reply to every submission but they are generally good about reacting one way or another (block or whitelist) within 48 hours.

    Thanks
  7. There have been recent news reports that US and British intelligence agencies have probed anti-malware vendor software for vulnerabilities in an effort to improve their own surveillance efforts. All of us in the information security industry stand together against any efforts designed to weaken our security products. For more information on ESET’s stance see our statement regarding the detection of government malware here: (hxxp://www.welivesecurity.com/2013/11/11/eset-response-to-bits-of-freedom-open-letter-on-detection-of-government-malware/).

ESET is a global company with research facilities around the world. Protecting our customers, our products and our systems against intrusions of any kind, no matter the source is always our first priority. In connection to these reports, we have inspected our systems and found no indicators of compromise.

  8. Thank you for providing feedback on your experience with our products. Our users are our top priority and we value your input as it helps us with continuing product and service improvements. With the new line of business solutions, completely re-engineered to ultimately deliver a better product, there has been an increased demand in customer support. Please be assured that we have been working on realigning our resources to make sure we can meet everyone’s needs. For example, we now have ongoing meetings directly with our business products developers to get answers to your questions as quickly and accurately as possible. We’ll continue to address every open thread and we appreciate your continued patience as we work through your requests.

  9. ESET does detect Wajam, ie. hxxp://www.virusradar.com/en/search/all/wajam

and there is already at least one thread on this forum with users seeing detection: Interesting, https://forum.eset.com/topic/431-win32wajam/

It may also help to remember the following as it pertains to using Virus Total to determine AV detection (ie. DON'T)

    https://www.virustotal.com/en/about/best-practices/

    • VirusTotal should not be used for antivirus/URL scanner testing. VirusTotal was not designed as a tool to perform antivirus comparative analyses, but as a tool that checks suspicious samples with several antivirus solutions and helps antivirus labs by forwarding them the malware they fail to detect. Those using VirusTotal to perform antivirus comparative analyses should know that they are making many implicit errors in their methodology.

  11. It appears Ubuntu 14.04 was released about 6 months after the latest version of ESET NOD32 for Linux, so it is unlikely that this issue was tested against that system during development.

I have let our product managers know that this issue returns with Ubuntu 14.04, so they can include this in the next build of NOD32 for Linux.

    Thanks.

  12. That's awesome! Just waiting on Juraj then from ESET.

I personally challenged Andrew Lee and this morning he completed his challenge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUsDjKYYKBM

I also think it's awesome that he used recycled water and then donated an equal amount to Water Aid America. Good thinking, Andi!

Now luckily, he challenged four people because one of those (Mikko Hyponnen) had already completed the challenge previously: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF1LCyANO0U

This shows why it's a god idea to do a bit of research and make sure those you want to nominate haven't already completed the challenge.

  13. I think pulling the water from his pond and adding ice was really great!

Can't wait to see Juraj's video (All that hair!), Palo's video (will the water knock him over?!), and Tomas video (too pretty to drown)

As well, Eugene Kaspersky has been challenged at least twice now. I'd love to see if he accepts. Perhaps a nice dunk in an arctic lake?

EDIT: It appears Kaspersky accepted as a team (NOT incl. Eugene) and posted 2 days ago.

And of course, the eccentric John McAfee. His acceptance could be straightforward or completely NSFW. We won't know until he accepts. If he accepts.
