  1. Hi Kicaj, I believe this is a problem with FireFox. In at least one occasion this helped: (1) backup your FireFox settings :-) (2) about:config (3) check/set these settings: browser.xul.error_pages.expert_bad_cert = false browser.ssl_override_behavior = 2 browser.xul.error_pages.enabled = true Hope it helps. Tomo
  2. ...especially if virus database is not up-to-date... However, the message can be disabled. But I don't think this is necessarilly a major security threat... I believe that guys who would know how to attack you based on info about your AV product have way more productive jobs... let's say collecting 160 millions credit cards info from cc vendors... or undercover agents names and addresses list from security agencies... or social security numbers from government sites... or anything else they wish to any corporate network they (dis)like :-) Tomo
  3. Hi all, (forums are not the sites where visibility is a number-one, so it is possible I am repeating someone's suggestion in which case - sorry :-) my bad) It would be nice to have a default ESET task in v7 and later to automatically "Clean update cache" (CUC) every X days (let's say once a week). We receive a significant number of support calls where simple CUC solves the problem. Just my $.2 :-) Tomo
  4. SysInspector in v7 Wish list: Include export of all ESET logs to txt/csv/xml file (anything that is readable by human) in SysInspector log. Thanks Tomo [NRTID#20130717095302]
  5. "Clear update cache problem - Could it be solved in v7 automatically/periodically?" Hi all. We receive a significant percentage of support calls regarding update failures. Majority of those issues are solved simply with "Advanced settings" -> "Clear update cache" -> "Update now" procedure. It would be nice (from support point of view, at least :-) ) if v7 could periodically delete cache by itself... Maybe to implement a scheduled task "Clean update cache daily" which could be disabled if customer wants to keep cache intact for some strange reason... Thanks Tomo [NRTID#20130717094602]
  6. As a general rule, I usually start CMD and then kill Explorer.EXE or any other system process. Explorer.exe file itself is usually not really infected, but malware just hooks as a fork at the process, so cleaning is not necessary after killing them. If system files really *are* infected I try to recover them with SFC (System File Checker). If that fails - I find a clean computer and replace executables. Tomo
  7. Hello Tomo, we will try to reproduce it in our testing environment and we will let you know. Hi Peter, It seems it's solved in 7.0.104.0. Thanks. Tomo
  8. (it seems that my post dissapeared... I posted it in wrong topic anyway, so I am repeating it here) ------------------------------------------- Upgrade to ESS 7 beta 7.0.104.0 ------------------------------------------- Win7ProSP1 64bit ENG Upgrade ESS7Beta (7.0.28.0 --> 7.0.104.0) 64bit ENG Likes: some extra configuration options during Setup process fast (!) installation (shouldn't I spent the majority of time on reading messages it would take just below 1 minute!) Dislikes: antivirus / antispyware is disabled antivirus / antispyware is disabled and message says "The program needs to be reinstalled" although pure restart solves the thing antivirus / antispyware is disabled and message says restart is *recommended* (IMHO it should be a must in such situation) processes consume cca 170Mb of RAM.. it's not that much nowadays, but still.. I'm not sure how much 7.0.28.0 took on Win7-64bit, but on WinXP-SP3-32bit v7.0.28.0 takes only ~100Mb Tomo
  9. Hi, Outlook 2010 Trust Center reports there is no antivirus software, although ESET add-in is present, enabled and working (please, see attached screenshot). I'm not sure on which side is this problem - Outlook or ESS? Tomo
  10. Did you try this? hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2875 Tomo
  11. I would try the following: - Export current configuration (kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2691) - Reset configuration to default (Go to Advanced setup (F5) -> Default -> "Are you sure you want to revert all setting to defaults?" -> Yes) - (it's not needed, but I would restart computer) If that fails, you can reload your original configuration and continue where we stopped :-) Tomo
  12. If no progress is made, try to manually uninstall current product (hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2289) and then install a new version "from scratch". ESETUninstaller never failed us! :-) You may want to export settings first and then import them (hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN3133); at least to avoid EAV-.. mumbo-jumbo :-) Tomo
  13. Description: TXT log files Detail: Creating text log file (csv, xml, ...) as in business products would be great help to support guys.
  14. You did not mention if firewall module is running at all? (Setup -> Network -> Personal firewall -> Status?) Tomo
  15. Did you visit "View the message"? Could be some script in Scheduler that is trying to display a message, and service is not set to "communicate" with desktop? Tomo
  16. Same configuration: + W7SP1x64 + FireFox 22 + ESS 7.0.28.0 + Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700 Everything works fine here. I would try to: + set ESS to default configuration + start FireFox in Safe mode + reinstall or upgrade Flash (which version do you have?) Tomo
  17. Win7Pro, SP1, 64bit, ENG WinXP, SP3, 32bit, ENG ESS7Beta, ENG Enable Tools -> Alerts and notifications -> Send event notifications by mail (set on diagnostic) Mail is being sent; Subject "ESET Smart Security: Warning", but Body is empty (looks like it's empty both for notifications and virus alerts; but, cannot be sure, because - it's empty :-) ) Best regards Tomo P.S. I just noticed same problem on ESS v4 Business edition.. Endpoint Security 5 HRV looks like it's working fine: "... 1.7.2013. 16:54:02 – tijekom izvršavanja programa Aktualizacija na računalu COMPUTERNAME pojavilo se sljedeće upozorenje: Updater: retval = 0x0000, failures: 0 ..."
  18. Win7Pro, SP1, 64bit, ENG NOD32 v6 ENG (up-to-date!) Upgrade to ESS7Beta results with protection disabled Restart solves the problem BUT - ESS message only *suggests* restart, it's not an obligation, and I believe it should be Best regards Tomo
  19. "Wish list" (+) It would be nice to have end time of scan in table (Tools -> Log files -> Log:Computer scan) (+) It would be nice to have an option "Export *all* logs to txt file" to avoid selecting log by log, opening, rightclicking, ... would improve time needed for support
  20. Maybe our experience could help you: We had (probably) identical case at one user, with behavior described at the begining of this topic. We manually found infected file, cleaned it from user's computers, tested sample in our testing environment and submitted it to samples@eset.com. Result - it was new variant of Win32/Caphaw.I malware. Interesting was that ESET Endpoint Antivirus 5.0.2126.3 did not recognized it, but ESET NOD32 Antivirus 6.0.316.5 recognized it (correctly) even before new Virus Database Library update was published. Also at the moment of sample submision, Virustotal showed detection rate of this sample 0/47 ...
  21. On the other hand.. from the support guy point of view new icon could lead to easier navigation of customers to open ESET program? Before: - "Can you click on eye-icon on your right down part of screen.." - "What eye? There is no eye.." - "OK, stylish kind of eye.." - "I have like 7 stylish kind of eye-icons there.." - "Click on the one that shows 'ESET..blabla' in tooltip.." - "What is tooltip?" - ...etc :-) Now: - "Can you click on 'e'-icon in your right down part of screen.." - "OK, a windows opened!" :-) Tomo
  22. No mater what is OS, there is answer to this question: hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2547
  23. Hmmm... First I must say that this is my private opinion, not opinion of my or any other company. This attempt of people who are behind IObit reminds me on some similar attempts - to promote suspitious software as something good. Across the Net lot of critics suggest that their program does not live up to its name, and compares poorly to equivalent free software. A significant percent of individuals that have installed the Advanced SystemCare have reported computer problems and 'glitches' And for them, let me remind you all of something we all have time to read not so long ago: hxxp://www.addictivetips.com/news/iobit-rips-off-others-hard-work-promotes-spyware/ (You can find a lot of similar posts across the Net....) So - I'm saying that I dont trust them... You all - should decide on your on.
  24. Hmmm... When you mentioned this question it provoked our curiosity. We checked our support archive, and realy have less malware cleaning support requests now when version 6 is "on the air" Good job ESET !
  25. And what about ESET SysRescue? In wich category belong this tool? Do we count it as part of NOD32 / ESS or...?
